𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐑𝐘 𝐀𝐑𝐑𝐈𝐕𝐄𝐃 𝐇𝐎𝐌𝐄 to the smell of breakfast. Hermione had started making the side dishes for the omelets while waiting for the eggs. She turned around from the counter before questioning Harry, "What took you so long? Getting eggs doesn't take an hour and a half?"

Harry nervously replied, "Um, I got distracted. Another store had stuff on sale"

"Oh, alright," Hermione said and turned back around to her cooking. "Could you put the eggs in the fridge? I'll be using them soon."

"Yeah sure," Harry answered and took the eggs out of the bag while walking to the fridge, "I got a dozen, in case you wanted more."

Hermione thanked Harry as he put the eggs into the fridge and closed the doors. He turned around and went up to his bedroom.

Hermione called out, "Dinner will be ready in 20 minutes guys!"

Both boys shouted back in unison, "Okay, thank you!"

Harry walked into his bedroom and closed the door. As he walked to his bed, he pulled the receipt out of his pocket. He flopped onto his bed and held up the paper to admire it. Harry couldn't believe Jess had given him her phone number. Hermione had taught him about phone numbers and how to use the telephone a few years ago. This was the first phone number he was ever given.

Should I call her? Harry wondered.

He got up and walked back downstairs to the kitchen. Harry quickly grabbed the phone and went around the corner, slamming the door on the cord so Hermione couldn't hear his conversation. However, his plan wasn't as smart as he thought- the numbers to dial were on the mount outside.

"Shit." Harry scoffed and shoved the paper back into his pocket. He opened the door and put the phone back. Hermione was still cooking.

Hermione noticed Harry come back into the room. She turned around and asked, "Who are you calling?"

"Nobody," Harry answered.

"Alright then. Dinner's ready. Call for Ron, please." Hermione sighed.

Harry walked up to the staircase and shouted, "Ron! Come down! Food!"

Ron shouted back in response, "Alright!"

As Ron came down the stairs, Harry and Hermione grabbed a plate and a serving of omelets before Ron could get to it and devour the entire plate of food.

They all sat down together at the same end of the long table in the dining room. They ate in silence until Hermione spoke.

"How was the store, Harry?"

Harry looked up from his plate and replied, "Pretty busy. The line to check out was crazy long. Also that one clothing store had a good deal. Thought I'd go check it out."

Hermione was suspicious of his answer, but said, "Hm. Alright." And took another bite of her food. She knew that he was probably lying, but didn't want to push it.

A few more minutes later, Ron got up from his seat to get seconds, and Harry and Hermione took their empty plates to the sink to clean.

"I'll clean them," Harry told Hermione and took her plate out of her hand.

"Thanks," She replied and walked out of the kitchen.

When Ron sat down with his second plate, Harry spoke, "How's you and Hermione?"

Ron stabbed at his omelet and replied, "Good, I suppose. Nothing bad."

"Oh." Harry quickly said and turned back around to the sink, "That's good."

He wished he could be like Ron and Hermione, but with Jess.

Harry sighed and started to walk towards the staircase, "Leave your plate in the sink, Ron. I'll clean it later."

"Thanks," Ron answered with a mouth full of food.

Harry quickly jogged up the stairs and closed the door to his bedroom. He once again flopped on his bed, face down. He wanted to call Jess, but Ron was near the phone. Harry hoped that Ron would eat faster.

Jess was sitting in the kitchen next to the phone on the wall. She's been waiting for a call since she got off work at 9.

Does he not like me?? Was that weird?? She thought to herself, starting to get anxious. Jess wanted him to call, of course. She had a tiny crush on the guy whom she'd talked to twice.

By 10, she gave up on waiting. Her Mom had just come downstairs when Jess was getting up.

"Whatcha doing down here?" Her Mom asked.

Jess sighed, then lied, "Nothing. Just sitting. You?"

Her Mom opened a cupboard, and answered, "Getting a glass of water for bed. Are you sure you're doing nothing?" Jess's Mom didn't think she was actually doing nothing. It wasn't like her.

"Well," Jess began, "I gave this guy at work the number for the phone, but he hasn't called yet."

Jess's Mom raised an eyebrow, "Um, are you sure he's not dangerous...?"

"Yeah, I'm sure."

"When did you meet this guy?" Her Mom questioned.

"Um, yesterday." Jess shyly told her Mom.

"Jess, seriously." Her Mom said with an eye-roll.
