As we walked through the echoing halls of Jujutsu Tech, a shadowy presence caught my attention. It twisted and writhed, an unsettling distortion against the backdrop of the academy's walls. "What is that?" I whispered, my voice barely audible.Yaga followed my gaze, their expression shifting into one of heightened alertness. "Oh, you can see that?" they inquired, surprise flickering across their features.
I nodded, my heart racing as I stared at the ominous figure before us. "What is it?"
Yaga's gaze remained fixed on the figure, their tone cautious. "It's a curse." They chuckled...
"Looks like we found ourselves a new first year."My eyes remained locked on the unsettling form of the curse, a mixture of fear and curiosity swirling within me. "A curse?" I echoed, the word sending shivers down my spine.
Yaga's expression turned more reassuring as they focused on me. "Yes, curses are malevolent entities born from negative emotions. You can see them, which means you're more connected to the supernatural than most people."
A thousand questions raced through my mind, but my thoughts were a jumbled mess. "Why can I see it? Is that a bad thing?"
Yaga's lips curved into a faint smile. "It's actually quite uncommon for non-sorcerers to see curses. It means you might have a potential for sorcery within you."
Confusion swirled within me, mingling with a growing realization that my situation was far from ordinary. "Sorcery? Me?"
Yaga nodded, their eyes holding mine with an intensity that made me feel both vulnerable and intrigued. "Exactly. You have a unique gift. We'll help you understand it and learn how to control it."
In an instant, Yaga's hand moved with practiced precision. He gestured and muttered incantations under his breath. The air around the curse crackled with energy as his words took effect. The curse let out an otherworldly wail, its form distorting further before dissipating into nothingness.
I watched in awe as the curse vanished, the tension in the air slowly easing. Yaga turned to me, his gaze steady. "You'll be learning how to do that too."
I looked at him in horror, my mind racing to process the overwhelming reality unfolding before me.
"Why is all of this happening at a religious school?" The question tumbled from my lips, my voice tinged with disbelief.
Yaga's expression remained composed, his eyes meeting mine with a mix of understanding and a hint of something deeper. "About that..." he began, his voice calm and measured. He chuckled softly, a wry smile playing on his lips. "I lied. The truth is..."
He paused, the weight of his words hanging in the air. I could feel a knot forming in my stomach, anticipation and anxiety coiling together like serpents.
"...Jujutsu Tech may seem like a religious school, but its true purpose is far more intricate. It serves as a cover—a sanctuary where sorcerers are trained to protect the world from the malevolent forces that most people are unaware of."
My heart raced as his revelation sank in. The facade of a religious institution crumbled before me, revealing the hidden world of curses, sorcery, and danger that lay beneath.
"The organization I belong to," Yaga continued, his gaze never leaving mine, "is dedicated to maintaining the balance between the supernatural and the ordinary world. Curses, like the one you saw, are real and pose a threat to humanity. Our duty is to defend against them, to keep the darkness at bay."
The enormity of his words crashed over me, waves of shock and wonder colliding within my mind. I struggled to find my voice amidst the whirlwind of emotions. "And me? Why can I see these curses?"
Yaga's eyes held a mixture of respect and curiosity. "Your ability to see curses is a gift—a rare one. It signifies that you're more connected to the supernatural than most. Your potential is immense, and we will help you unlock it."
