A painful and involuntary screech

We stepped out the elevator, our footsteps the only sound until Kuroi spoke up: "Riko-Sama."

Riko turned around, surprised by the sudden sound of her name.

Kuroi bowed down. "This is as far as I go. "
"Riko sama please..." her voice broke. "Please..."

At once Riko closed their distance and engulfed her in a tight embrace.
"Kuroi, I love you!, I always have, I always will." The crying Riko empathised.

Tears started streaming down my own face and geto took my hand inti his.

"Me too! I love you too!" Kuroi cried.

We continued walking in silence.

Riko broke the silence "So this is..."

"Yeah, we are in tengen-Sama's territory now."
Geto agreed.

"Once you descent the stairs....you'll be inside the special barrier...only those invited are able to enter."

"Tengen sama will protect you until the assimilation"
He assured.

I looked down to my feet, unsure how to feel or what to say I remained quiet.

"That... or we can turn back around and go home with Kuroi-san."

Both Riko and I looked at him surprised.

"Satoru an I already talked it over before we met you."

I looked at him, taken aback by the new found information. ""You didn't think of telling me?" I questioned, my voice revealing a touch of hurt. Before I could continue, he squeezed my hand looked at me apologetically.
It was a small gesture, but it spoke volumes. I understood that he was acknowledging his oversight and showing remorse for not involving me.

"We are the strongest," he continued. " no matter what decision you make, we will guarantee your future."

I smiled and nodded in agreement.

Riko started telling us how she felt.
"...But...but..."
" I want to be with everyone longer!" It spurted out of her. " I want to go to all kinds of places with everyone!"

Geto's arm wrapped around me, pulling me close with an empathetic smile on his face. I too looked up at him, smiling.

He reached out his hand "let's go home, Riko-chan."

She smiled at us so sweetly, it warmed my heart. Just as I was about to embrace her...

"BANG!"

A gunshots penetrated her brain and she fell to the floor, lifeless.

Pure shock and horror etched onto our faces.
"No..." I whispered as my voice wouldn't come out.

"Riko-chan?" Suguru said beside me.

Suddenly the man from before appeared " Okay, job's done." He said nonchalantly.
"You're free to go now." He continued.

Getos arm dropped from my waist as he turned towards the man slowly, his expression still one of pure disbelief.

He moved me behind himself protectively.

"Why?..." the man said, scratching his head with his gun, genuinely confused about the question.

"Oh.. thats what you mean." He cracked a smile.
"Because I killed Gojo Satoru."
