As the introductions unfolded, a sense of camaraderie began to form, but it was immediately overshadowed by the arrival of another familiar face. Jaga's appearance drew my attention, but my focus shifted when Gojo—tall, confident, and with an air of arrogance—asked about me with a raised eyebrow.
"Wait, she's a first year training with us!?" Gojo's voice was laced with a mixture of disbelief and mockery. "Shouldn't she go through basic training first?"
Jaga's response was measured, his voice calm yet authoritative as he explained the reasoning behind my unique training arrangement.
Gojo turned to me, his grin widening with a mischievous glint in his eyes. "Are you sure you'll be able to keep up with us, little girl?" His tone was mocking, his words calculated to elicit a reaction.
The audacity of his comment struck me, and for a moment, disbelief mingled with indignation. Little girl? Who does he think he is? I thought, a fire igniting within me.
"Little girl!?" I retorted, my voice sharp with incredulity. "Who are you calling a little girl?"
The challenge was met with silence, a moment of tension hanging in the air. Leiri, the girl who had introduced herself earlier, chimed in with a disapproving tone. "Gojo, what the hell?"
Gojo's expression remained unfazed, his eyes dancing with amusement. "Come on, just having a little fun," he said, his grin unyielding.
I took a deep breath, suppressing the urge to react with anger. If I want to prove myself, I can't let him get under my skin, I thought, determination fueling my resolve.
Before I could say anything, Geto stepped forward, his tone firm and decisive. "Gojo, ease up. Y/n is here to train just like the rest of us. Don't underestimate her."
Gojo's gaze shifted from me to Geto, and for a moment, the playful arrogance in his expression wavered. He seemed to consider Geto's words, and after a moment, he let out a sigh and rolled his eyes.
"Fine, fine. No need to get all serious," he said, his tone casual as he waved a dismissive hand. "Welcome to the club, little miss first year."
I bit back a retort, reminding myself that reacting to his taunts would only prove his point. Instead, I offered a curt nod, acknowledging his words without giving him the satisfaction of a reaction.
As the tension diffused, Leiri let out a soft chuckle, her demeanor lightening the mood. "You'll get used to Gojo's antics," she said with a knowing smile. "He's just like that."
