Much to Jiyong's surprise, Seunghyun offered to let Hanbin stay with them. Hanbin was hesitant at first because he didn't want to be a burden on either of them, but Jiyong convinced him that it was the safest thing for him at the moment with Dongguk still out there. It didn't appear to Jiyong that Seunghyun offered to try and get on his good side again, but then again, he had come to not trust his own judgement on people as much as he used to. But if he was presenting him with a chance to make sure Hanbin was safe, whatever his true motives were, Jiyong would take it.
Night had already fallen and everyone in the apartment was getting ready to go to bed. Hanbin had probably thanked Seunghyun about a million times for letting him stay, and the man would just shake his head and tell him not to, that there was really nothing to thank him for.
"I hope I won't be too much of a burden on you guys," Hanbin said as he got under the blankets of the bed. Since it was only a two-bedroom apartment, he had to share the guest room with Jiyong, but the elder male didn't mind. In fact, it made him much better because he could keep a closer eye on him were anything to happen.
"For the last time, you will not be a burden," Jiyong said as he set the extra blankets that Seunghyun had given him on a chair across the room. "I'm just glad we're both safe now." Hanbin smiled at his hyung's words and nodded his head, temporarily looking down at the patterned blanket.
"I don't think I've ever thanked you, hyung," Hanbin said out of nowhere, instantly catching Jiyong's attention. "You've been the only person in my life that I can really count on, and I don't know what I would have done if we never met." Jiyong smiled and walked over to sit on the bed for a moment or so.
"Then I guess that means we were destined to meet," he said, earning a laugh from the younger male. "Honestly, I don't know what I would have done without you either. Especially during times like this." Hanbin's smile widened and he put his hand on top of Jiyong's, only to wrap his fingers around his hand a few seconds later. Jiyong held his hand back.
"You better get some sleep," Jiyong said with a small sigh as he stood up. "I'll come back in a while. I'll try not to wake you up when I come back in."
The boy just chortled slightly before saying, "Okay, hyung. Goodnight."
"Night,"Jiyong replied as Hanbin laid down in the bed, pulling the covers over his body. Once he was all settled, Jiyong exited the room, carefully shutting the door behind him. He happened to see Seunghyun coming out of the bathroom, now dressed in his sleepwear and headed to his bedroom.
"Oh, I was just headed to bed," Seunghyun said with a smile on his lips and his eyes grazing over Jiyong for a few seconds. "Um, you can obviously stay up if you want."
"Yeah, I'm not very tired yet, so I was gonna just sit out here for a while, so I don't bother Hanbin." Jiyong's response came out a bit more silent and weak than he would have liked, but Seunghyun smiled at it nonetheless.
"Okay, well, goodnight then," he said before he disappeared into his room and shut the door. Jiyong sighed heavily and went into the living room, rubbing his face with his hands a few times once he sat down.
Why was he pushing Seunghyun away? He was still hurt by the lie, yes, but the more time he had to think about it, the clearer he could see the good intentions behind the lie. Jiyong knew he had to stop pushing someone who loved him so much away before he was gone forever, which was the one thing Jiyong didn't want to happen. He needed Seunghyun more than his scarred heart cared to admit right now.
Throwing all his logic and reason out the window, Jiyong stood up from the couch and walked back toward Seunghyun's room, his feet walking in the direction of his door. He made a fist with his right hand and knocked it against the door loudly but not too loudly. Seunghyun opened the door a few seconds later and was surprised to see Jiyong standing there.
