London, England. February 5 1912.

"Meredith I have the newspaper!" the boy says entering the apartment door informing the girl that was still in her room getting ready for the day. Years ago Meredith would have dreamed of an apartment in central London, beautiful and luxurious, too bad it wasn't hers, she "borrowed" it from a recently married French couple in the city who, after careful observation, Meredith had discovered that they would be in Vienna for a whole month, just enough time to find another place for the month after that. She had been going on like this since she lost her parents when she was six, living since then in a whole lie.
"Forget it, Dean! It's the usual stuff, there's no interesting news, just the usual about London's new rich families and their throwing parties which we'll think about another time." Dean, a 24-year-old boy from Chicago, like Meredith, he too has been moving here and there for all of his life after his father died when he was ten. His mother?doesn't even look for her, she left after giving birth to him, probably now she lives somewhere in Canada together with her new man. Dean has been living in London for six years, he worked as a baker but after meeting the girl, he too began to get involved in something dangerous, so he lost every job he had, starting to live in a world full of lies.
Meredith while she was still finishing fixing her dress joined her friend at the kitchen table where he had placed some money and the newspaper "Oh no Mery, this one is interesting instead, look here." the boy points his finger at the news on the front page. the girl carefully read what the article said seeing with the corner of her eye the boy's excited expression "So what?" Meredith tossed the piece of paper onto the table, pulling a cigarette out of "her" gold pack, "So? Meredith it's our chance to go home! we've got enough money in these to even afford a first class cabin! new life. An honest life..." the hopeful boy took the article in his hands going towards the skeptical girl who listened to what he had to say continuing to smoke her cigarette leaning against the kitchen "An honest life you say? Since when you are interested in making an honest life in another country?" she asked evidently teasing him "Since now. We risk our lives practically every day. I know that deep down you want it too Mery, you just refuse to admit it..." Dean knew how much her friend hoped to be able to live life that he never had, when they met she told him everything, especially about her dreams and he knew that the life Meredith wanted was certainly not hiding in the houses of London nobles.
"How much does it cost?" she asked as she threw her cigarette out the window "£30, for first class of course." Dean smiled seeing the girl finally making a happy expression, an expression that he had never seen before "Let's do it then!" She says.
