ashes to ashes

Laurel had easily seen her friend appearing towards her, and speaking to her, "I texted our manager, and she claims to never called you tonight in for work, that's so weird." She had gently told her.
Mariana had easily shrugged her own shoulders, her voice just sounded congested still, "Who cares, I could use the distraction from the events of today. . ." She sadly bit onto her apple, "My daughter hates me, but she has every reason to hate me. I lied to her." She had reminded, again.
Laurel had given her friend a reassuring smile, and speaking to her, "She doesn't hate you, Mariana. . . she's upset that you kept that from her. One day, she'll understand that you were just trying to keep her safe." She given her hand a gentle squeeze.
Mariana had wiped her salty tears with her hands, voice cracking, "The day she probably understands that, I probably won't even be here. I'm going to head into the washroom, and get Nathaniel's medication." She announced, and walked away.
Laurel practically a sad smile on her face before her eyes drifted on a strange man who had a hate covering the back of his head, and a black jacket and quietly following her friend who was clueless, "What the fuck?" She quietly mumbled to herself.
She had immediately grabbed their work phone, dialing the downstairs people, "There's a strange man in the forty floor. Can you please come and send security?" She just pleaded from them.
"Is someone hurt?" The said in annoyance.
Laurel had about furrowed her very own eyebrows, speaking back to the woman, "No, but does it even matter if no one's even hurt yet? It's better to be safe than sorry. So, please can you —" The woman on the other end had hung up on Laurel.
"Fucking bitch. . ." She had slammed the phone and ultimately sighing to herself, she ran her fingers through her hair not knowing what to do now because she had this strange feeling of this man, and she didn't know why she began to feel this strange feeling, "Fuck it." She stood up to investigate, and tell her friend about this strange man.

"Citlali, can you please answer the phone. . ." Mariana's voice had just simply cracked into the call, all while she also had the medication of Nathaniel on her hand, "I'm so sorry, that I kept this secret from you, I'll make it up for you. I have been saving money, and I think that I've made enough to help you get your guide dog. I've also heard you constantly speaking to Chad about how you really want to go to college, but don't want to go without a guide dog. Please, just call me back. . . I love you, Corazón." She sniffled as she hanged up on the phone.
