"Stop! Thief!" A shrill scream reverberated through the lone street of Sicily, Italy.
A convenience store had just been robbed. The robber had come into the store wearing a black hoodie with long hazel hair cascading through the hood, and concealed something in her pocket. She took a plastic bag and started filling stuff into it, when she dropped it and gestured for the shopkeeper to come over and clean it up. Muttering, the counter lady did come, and started picking up the immense load of things.
The girl, stepped away from the mess and waited patiently behind the counter lady.
Once done cleaning up, she got the bag back and she apparently decided it wasn't worth to buy and started putting the stuff back, but in a disorderly and clumsy manner.
The counter lady walked up to her and took the stuff and started rearranging the items properly. Once again, the girl waited behind her. When the counter lady turned around, the girl was no longer by her side. She peeked around the corner and that girl at the counter, furiously shoving handfuls of money into her bag.
"Hey! What do you think your doing?! Stop now, or I will call the police!" The girl smirked under the mask and replied," how will you, when that stops beating?" She pointed at the lady's heart and suddenly flung something at her with deadly accuracy, and the counter lady watched in horror as the blade impaled itself in her chest, dark red blossoming on her white blouse.
"You-!" The counter lady screamed as she used her remaining energy and pressed an emergency button-one that would alert the police immediately that there was a thief. And a killer. Almost a heartbeat later, a police siren could be heard in the distance. The counter lady's eyes rolled up, and she fell with a resounding thud on the floor.
"Stop! Thief!" The girl screamed as she ran out of the store as she pretended to chase. "How could you kill such an innocent person?!" people on the streets turned and gawked, but none came forward since the police had arrived.
"Wait, young lady! Have you seen-" But the girl was too fast. She had already disappeared into the night.
The local police went in and surveyed the scene. Bystanders pushed and shoved, trying to peek at what went on in the store. They saw that the counter lady had been carted away into an ambulance, and that two policemen were studying the knife. The other policemen crowded around a security camera, and saw everything that happened.
"Drat! That girl fooled us! We assumed she was going after the thief, but it turns out she was the thief!""Well, what are you waiting for then? Perhaps the girl has not gotten far. We need to give chase!"
Meanwhile
The girl ran and ran, and eventually reached a dark and abandoned alley.
She huffed and panted a bit, then sidled up to the side and hid for a while. She was foolish to have left her only weapon in the store and not plug it out of that fool's chest.
She mentally scolded herself. From now, she would have to tread carefully. A murder had happened. The police were searching for her. She would not give up so easily.
