The tension inside the car was so thick you could practically cut it with a knife.

This time around, being in his car felt incredibly uncomfortable. The silence between us hung in the air, heavy and awkward, and I could sense him stealing glances at me every now and then.

I just can't shake off the fact that he randomly showed up at the park. I mean, I've had this unsettling feeling all week that someone's been keeping tabs on me.

When we finally reach his house, I waste no time hopping out, desperate to escape the confined space of the car.

He goes for the whole gentleman's move, holding open the front door. Even though I'm pretty ticked off at him, I manage to muster a thank-you, to which he simply gives a nod in response.

Man, I've seriously missed this place. The short time I've spent here holds way more cherished memories than my so-called "home" ever did.

I suddenly find myself caught in an unexpected hug, and I let out a surprised yell. As I realize it's Dion, I relax, letting out a breathy laugh. He releases me, planting a gentle kiss on my forehead.

"God, I missed you," he says, hugging me tighter.

"Well, you were the one who stopped talking to me," I reply matter-of-factly.

He looks guilty and mumbles a quick sorry.

Then it dawns on me that Nic, Hazel, and Lucas are all there, wearing the same sheepish expressions.

I had a whole speech prepared, all the things I wanted to tell them when I saw them again, but in that moment, I'm at a loss for words.

I open my arms, and Hazel rushes in for a tight hug. She squeezes me so hard that I have to bite my lip to keep from yelping.

Looking at her, I think I see tears in her eyes, but maybe it's just my imagination.

Next comes Nic, hugging me and planting a gentle kiss on my hair. Finally, Lucas steps in, giving me a friendly ruffle of my hair, before hugging me.

"So, why did you guys stop talking to me?" I ask, looking at them, not about to let it slide.

They all immediately point at Alexandro, who's just standing there, eyes wide.

Motherkracker

"I can explain," he says, looking like a deer caught in headlights.

We all plop down on the sofas, and I find myself sandwiched between Dion and Hazel - they're both gripping onto one of my arms like they're afraid I'll disappear.

"Hai intenzione di dirla tutta?" Nic asks. (Are you going to spill everything?)

Alexandro gives a nod.

"So you see," he begins, taking a moment to collect his thoughts.

I signal for him to keep going, my curiosity piqued.
