I woke up and found the bed empty. Letting out a sigh, I stretched before bothering to make the bed.
Heading downstairs, I couldn't help but laugh at the scene in the kitchen. Lucas and Dion were cooking together like a couple who had been married for ages.
"Good morning," I greeted them, and they turned around, sporting big smiles.
"Good morning," they chimed in together, and I gave both of them a friendly hug.
Curiosity got the best of me, and I asked, "Where's Alexandro?"
"He had to leave for work," Lucas replied while flipping a pancake. "So, we're here to babysit you."
I almost forgot about Alexandro's mafia ties. It was strange, knowing someone connected to that world, but it didn't faze me much.
I think reading mafia books has really messed up my brain.
Dion interrupted my thoughts by announcing, "Breakfast is served," and he placed a plate of pancakes, decorated with berries and syrup, in front of me.
"Thanks," I said, digging into the delicious meal.
After devouring the pancakes, I washed our plates. Dion put a glass of water in front of me, along with my prescribed pills. I took them with a gulp of water and then went upstairs to deal with my scars.
With that done, I brushed my teeth, washed my hands, and put my hair into a braid. Back downstairs, I found Lucas and Dion lounging on the sofa.
Dion had his head on Lucas's lap, and Lucas was running his fingers through Dion's hair. They quickly sat up and moved apart when they saw me, but I just smiled.
It was obvious that they had feelings for each other, and it was all new for Lucas, who had only dated girls before. I hoped they could figure things out at their own pace.
Dion patted the space next to him, so I joined them, and we covered ourselves with a blanket. Lucas put on a new episode of "Friends," and I rested my head on Dion's shoulder, laughing at the jokes.
A few hours passed before Dion's phone started ringing incessantly. He ignored it at first but eventually picked up and put him on speaker. I squinted at the phone as Alexandro barked through it.
"Why the heck didn't you answer the first time?" he demanded.
Dion brought the phone closer to me, and I said, "Hi," trying not to make Alexandro even angrier.
"Ariella, are you okay?" he asked, sounding concerned.
"Yeah," I reassured him.
"Did they make you something to eat?" he asked.
"They made pancakes," I replied, realizing he couldn't see me nod.
"Did you take your medicine?" he pressed.
