Passed by, but not checked. Alex had been on the bullet train for several hours, but no one had asked to see her ticket. Basically, she was stupid. She had already had the conductor's photo at the beginning of the trip, but thanks to the uniform, she had paid no further attention to him after a 'hello'.
The most conspicuous person who went from compartment to compartment all the time and was seen by everyone was a wasp. Conspicuously inconspicuous.
After a quick glance left and right, Alex stood up, put her phone back in her pocket, and walked in the direction where most people were likely to get on. Which meant she might run into Lemon.
All quiet. Quite leisurely, she had endless time anyway, Alex strolled through the compartment and looked at the guests. She was just a guest who needed to stretch her legs. Nothing more. Not unusual for such a long stay. Sure, there had been longer ones, but sooner or later everyone had a breakdown when they had to stay put.
There was no sign of an employee in the next car either, so Alex kept walking, stopping just as she was about to reach for the door handle to open another compartment. Through the small window in the door, she could see a man in a conductor's uniform looking right and left at the passengers, asking for tickets.
Quickly, Alex reached into her pocket, pulled up the pictures on her phone, and held it up to the man. And the wasp came right at her.
