I stared at the wall, remembering what I said to Tomioka earlier. Argh, stupid me. You should never show your emotions to anyone. Keep your fake smile on.

No emotions.

Don't show your sickness to anyone.

Using the restroom, I coughed up blood, wiping it away before anyone could see it. All my medicine was at my house. Without it, I only had a month left.

But I needed to stay. Gather info before returning.

Besides. I didn't have much of a point in living very long anyway. The sickness hindered me from being able to have children, doing much activities, and whatnot. Kanae and I worked to death finding a cure, but with not much luck. We could develop incredible medicines to keep the sickness at bay. But it would come back anyway. Apparently, as a child, I had been infused with too much wisteria poison, which was the political people's doing.

"Kocho." It was Tomioka. "What are you doing in the bathroom that's causing you to be in there for thirty minutes?"

I came out, as a happy, confident person. "No worries. I wasn't feeling well." Sighing in his monotone ways, he just sat there.

"I want to see the camp." I said, poking him through the bars. As I do see, someone had changed up my cell. It was foolproof, no one could exit the cell unless the guard lets them.

"No." He said flatly.

"At least bring some people to see me! I wanna meet your friends!" I said. Clearly, he had no friends, but annoying him was fun.

I'll bring Tanjiro." He said glumly. Tapping some Minami device, he called someone called 'Kamado'. Wait. I wasn't serious. He actually had a friend? And soon enough, a boy around the age of thirteen came in.

"Moshi mosh! Are you Tanjiro?" I asked.

"Yes!" The young boy said brightly. "Kamado, Tanjiro! Giyu, why am I here?"

"This Mosquito-"

"Tomioka-san, I thought a was a dog yesterday? Why now a mosquito?" I asked, veins popping once again. This dunce of a man...

"I changed my mind. Anyway, Tanjiro, this prisoner bugs me so much that I needed backup." Giyu muttered.

"Wow! It's hard getting a reaction out of Giyu! How do you do it?" Tanjiro asked brightly.

"Kamado..." Tomioka growled.

"Easy! Call him a stupid mutt, and then poke him like this! Tsun tsun!" I said, jabbing him.

"Kocho." He says. "Why are you poking me?"

"So we can get along better!" I smiled.

"Kocho. Stop poking me." He growled.

"Tsun~tsun!" I smirk.

"KOCHO!" He tries to grab my hand, but I jerk it away before he can.

"And that's a 101 on annoying Tomioka-san."

Giyu Tomioka

I stood my ground, watching Kocho. She coughed again and again.

"Outside.." she muttered before collapsing on the ground.

Is this a prank?! To get me to take her outside?

Wait. If Kocho actually died, my rank might lower.

"Oh lord, please let it be genuine. She's already a pain as it is." I muttered.

Dragging half-conscious Kocho outside, I watched her once again, grumbling about the stupid job.

"Tomioka-San! It's Kaori!" Ah, Kaori. An old friend before she became a pompous airhead.

"What's going on? She asked in the weirdest tone ever. My sister said it was called a 'flirtatious tone' whatever that meant.

"Just doing my job." I motioned to Kocho, limp against the ground.

"Oh dear! That looks extremely exhausting! Why don't you take a break with my friends and I."

"Kaori. I'm on guard. Ask me when I'm not busy!" I snapped.

"Oh, Tomioka-San! Don't be so cruel! I drift away from my job all the time! Nothing really happens! Besides, I've heard this girl is a handful. You don't seem to be getting enough sleep! Don't worry, I can ask Minami's leader so you can get a break from her! I heard he really likes me." She looked at me expectantly.

"What a wonder you're still a Mizunoto then." I muttered.

"Ah, Tomioka-San, is this your way of hiding your liking for me?" She asked.

"Kaori, go away. I'm on duty." She was even worse than Kocho. At least Kocho's teasing was enjoyable-I mean...er...endurable, Kaori was playing plain stupid.

Kaori flitted away with her friends, leaving me in peace. Kocho finally woke up groggily, coughing.

"Hey...hey. Just take a deep breath, okay?" I told her.

"What happened? My head throbs." She grumbled.

"You fainted." I muttered.

"I-I'm fine. Can I go inside now?" I carried her on my back into the cell again. Just watching

What am I thinking right now anyway?

"Giyu!" Sabito waved me over and I walked over, sitting next to him and Makomo.

"Hey Sabito, Makomo." I nodded at them both.

"So! How's your current assignment? Kaori told us the girl-Kocho? That's her surname, right? Anyway, Kaori said Kocho's a big pain, but she's such a huge gossip, no one listens to her."

"Oh! I heard Kocho's really pretty Giyu!" Makomo said excitedly.

"Shush! Makomo! Clans don't talk to each other! Giyu just thinks of her as an assignment though, right?" Sabito looked at me. "I really think you should find someone though, it's almost unheard of to not have been in a relationship by eighteen."

I stood up, not wanting to hear their conversation anymore. "Haven't found anyone special." I grunted.

"Please don't tell me you like Kaori, right? I mean, she's pretty, but she's such a dunce! You'd be better off marrying that Kocho!" Makomo said.

"Don't worry too much about me. I'll be just fine." I gave them both a small nod before walking back to Kocho.

"Giyu, don't get too attached, okay? I've seen a lot of rogues, and most have to do with a lover in Kita." Sabito said softly. Suddenly, a lump appeared in my throat.

"Don't worry. She's just an assignment." I mumbled.

Was it true?

Why going rogue is a bad idea.

Many people go rogue for many reasons. Maybe it's because the life in the tribe didn't suit them. Maybe they had a lover. Going rogue meant you couldn't see your clan anymore, and to avoid it at all costs. Clan mates who had gone rogue would be executed if found.

So what do clan people gain from this? It much safer in a clan, obviously, and it keeps a just moral to all people. It keeps a fair system, and benefits for everyone. For example, a warrior fights to protect a chef. In turn, the chef makes sure no one starves and so the warrior doesn't have to learn to cook.

I think something's also wrong with this book. How did it suddenly end up number 5 in Shinogiyuu?!?!?! Is my iPad glitched or something? KYAAAAAAAAAA! It's like a dream!
