This fledgling hope inside of me
Is like a hummingbird.
Small and tentative,
It moves around my body.
Its steps are haunted by caution,
Its wings flutter to take flight.
This little hummingbird, once so, so afraid,
Is now learning to break free.
Cautious, it is still
And so it will forever remain,
But it has made a decision to not be haunted by it
Anymore.
This fledgling hope of mine,
Once diminished,
Is now ablaze.
