••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••"Zander we have been waiting all day for you." Liana said as Zander burst through the door, with sweat beating from his forehead and his small dark haired quiff slightly out of place. "I know." He affirmed walking over to the large table were many people like us sat. "Well Whats your excuse?" Liana questioned. Zander didn't even give a glare to Liana. He just dug his hand into his front pocket and stared right at my Father, the president of this group of what we like to call "chosen ones". "I got it." Zander smiled. "Got what?" My father asked getting up from his chair and walking towards the teen boy who had arrived late with a mysterious item. "This." Zander said pulling a golden key out from his pockets. Nobody said a word not even my father he stood there shocked. "She told me to destroy it." He spoke up. "But I couldn't bring myself to it." Zander added on once he saw my father's face still in shock. "Everyone leave, Zander and I have things to discuss." My dad said practically dragging Zander by the wrist out of the room. Leaving the rest of us still clueless.

"What was with your dad?" Liana questioned me once we alone and out of the room walking down the hall. "I don't know I haven't seen him shocked about anything in a long time, He usually knows everything going on around here." I shrugged. "Yeah I guess, but come on Allison you never seen that key before?" Liana asked "it looked familiar." I admitted. "how?" She asked. "I don't know, maybe I saw it in my dads office or in a book." I said not thinking much of it. "Allison, come on this is killing me please." Liana said "Please, what? I honestly don't see the problem here." I said annoyed with her obsession of a key. "The problem is that this key almost scared your dad, why would your dad be worked up over a small object like a key, this has to be important." Liana said getting to her adventurous side. I rolled my eyes. "Just ask Zander when he gets out from my dads office." I told Liana. "okay I will I can't wait this is eating me alive." She enthused.

"That's what my dad told you?" I asked Zander not understanding any of this. "yep pretty much." Zander said taking a bite from his sandwich as we sat at a table in the center of the food court. "I told you this is weird." Liana said poking me with a grin wide along her face. "Im going to call River." I said getting up from the table. River was my best friend she is one of us a "chosen one". We have been in our small community together since birth along with Liana and Zander, the four of us were best friends.River should know about this key. She has the gift of curiosity, therefore leading her to the gift of knowledge wanting to seek out more and more answers to her questions. Liana and Zander both have the gift of adventure the only thing separating them is their second gift. Liana's second gift is curiosity just like River's. Zander's second gift is honesty. He's basically a human lie detector he can tell when someone's lying. And if he lies a new mark appears somewhere on his skin.
That's the weird part of our so called gifts if we choose a different path from them. A mark appears its barely painful or that noticeable. And some go away after some weeks or years. But it's a reminder of who we are. They say I have the gifts of honesty, problem solving, and telepathy which is odd since only a few are given their third gift at a young age. Most are given their third gift at the age of thirty I am 17. I haven't figured out how to use my telepathy. They just sorta told me I had it when they took my brain wave and DNA test this month. Everyone has to take a brain wave and DNA test at the beginning of every month it makes sure that we are running smoothly as a group and we are kept updated on who we are suppose to be. Stupid if you ask, but I don't tell the government how to run their area of perfection.
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••"Hello?" River asked as she finally picked up her phone. "Hey, meet Zamder,Liana and I at the food court something weird happened and we need you help." I said through the phone. "okay no biggy be there in a few." River said "okay thanks bye." I called "bye." River said ending the phone call.
I walked back to the table and took my seat. "So is River coming?" Zander asked "Yeah in a bit." I answered taking a sip of my soda. Zander and Liana stoled death glances at each other and both directed their eyes on me. "Fine I will tell her." Liana said in defeat. "tell me what?" I asked "Allison, Zander and I were talking while you were gone, and we wanted to know if you know more about the other world." Liana asked "What do you mean?, we have been learning the same thing about the other world for our whole lives." I reminded. "I know but has your dad said anything like how to get there?" Zander asked adding the questions to the pile that has already grown. "No, but if you want I can snoop in his office tonight when I go home." I offered "That will be great." Liana smiled. "Okay what did you guys need me for?" River asked from behind Zander making him jump at her sudden voice. We all shared a fit of laughter making Zander embarrassed and his tan checks turn red. "We needed to know if you know anything about a key." Zander said getting back on track "A key?" River asked raising her eyebrow. "yeah a golden key that looks like this." Zander explained as he got a napkin and asked for a pen from the next table. As soon as he got the pen he started to draw the key. It came out perfect since Zander has always been good at drawing. But I saw a small mark start to appear on his wrist, I saw him wince at the pain but he continued on his drawing. He passed the napkin to River and gave her a curious stare letting her examined the drawing. Shutting her eyes trying to remember anything. "I have seen it in a picture but I can't remember what it was." River admitted handing the napkin back to Zander. "Do you think we can try to get more information about this?" Liana asked "of course, but first lets ask Allison's dad first to see if he knows anything." River suggested "He does I will ask him when I get home tonight, then I will text you guys ASAP." I reinforced them. "Okay sounds good." Zander said standing up taking his trash in his hands. "Okay I will see you guys tomorrow." I said taking my cup. "Yeah we have a meeting at 7 right?" Liana asked "Yep bright and early." River perched having a strand of her blonde hair drop to her face making her move it behind her ear. "K guys, peace." Zander said holding up a quick peace sign going to the trash. "Later." I said walking off hearing Liana and River say a bye. Now to ask my dad about the key. I have to admit I am pretty curious about this myself. I examined my arms to see if I got a new mark, since I knew I was going off my path and into curiosity. And sure enough a small line appeared on my wrist this one darker than the others I have received before. I shook it off and began my short walk home.
