Chapter 5

I squinted my eyes open. Allowing the sunlight blind my eyes. A groan of annoyance came from my mouth, it was morning time and that mean I have to get up. That's the hardest part everyday getting the motivation to get up, why can't there just be a lazy day when I just sleep in and stay in bed all day.My body was being pulled tightly against something hard.

I then remembered that we had a sleepover at the treehouse. "Zander." I said trying to push myself away from him. "Hmmm." he answered lazily. "get up." I said giving up on freeing myself from his grip. "no." Zander simply answered. "why not?" I asked "because your dad will just ask me more questions about the key." Zander stated still having his arm draped around me. "Doesn't matter you still have to go to the meeting." I said rolling myself over to face him. His eyes were still closed with his hair lightly brushing his forehead. His mouth was slightly open breathing causing his chest to move slowly up and down. "Why?" he groaned slowly opening his eyes. "because your the one who found the key and it's a meeting for all the trainees." I reminded. "I will go under one condition." He stated having his eyes fully open by now. "okay and what is that?" I asked "you let me take you out on a date." he answered "I don't know Zander I will have to ask my dad first, but I guess we can go as friends." I answered pulling my eyes away from him suddenly finding all the things in the room to be more interesting. "We don't have to go." Zander said. Just by the sound of his voice I can hear his confidence going down. I stopped roaming my eyes around the room avoiding Zander's eyes. I focused my eyes to his face. Sadness covered his face. "No I want to, I just don't think we should rush into a relationship right now." I answered truthfully. "No it's fine I get it, With the key and all, I don't know what came over me.It was stupid." Zander stated getting up quickly. "Zander." I started getting up as well. "It's fine." He said pulling my brothers pajama shirt off. Having his back facing away from me. My eyes caught something on his back it was a big mark running down his spine. It looked like the marks we got when we strained from our paths. "Zander what's that?" I asked putting my hand on his back. "I got it yesterday, I got to go get ready for the meeting." Zander rushed putting on his plain blue shirt. He grabbed his jeans and went into the changing room. I stayed quiet knowing he was already annoyed with me.He walked out avoiding me. He climb down the ladder. I looked out the window and saw his body run down the path away from the treehouse.

"First fight already." I heard River tease. "we have had many fights before." I said turning away from the window. "yeah but not when you too are a couple." Liana winked. "we are not a couple, guys listen sure Zander is cute and amazing, but we are also friends, things could get ruined between us and then what will happen?" I stated. "Just learn how to jump in life and take a risk." River advised getting her clothes and going into the changing room. "okay whatever I'm going to go get ready see you guys." I announced climbing down the ladder and running along the path to my house.
