Luna
We finally make it to OBX. Mike holds both our suitcases as I walk first in search of a cab, and when I do find one, we get in quickly. I say my address, and soon enough, we're there. My parents aren't expecting me, us actually, to come, but here we are right now, ringing the doorbell.
"Who is it?" I hear Alex yell and when we don't answer, I grip Mike's tshirt in order for him not to answer, he comes and opens the door. And his eyes widen when he sees me.
"Moonshine?" he smiles brightly and yells at mom to come too, and when she comes, they both run to me, hugging me tightly. I smile and hug them back. I haven't seen them in about a year, that's the last time I came back home.
"Mom, dad, I'd like you to meet Mike." I gesture to Mike, who gives them an awkward smile. Poor him, he must be feeling like a fish out of its water.
"You're Mike!" mom's eyes widen like she just remembered me talking about him to her, and she hugs him quickly, catching him off guard. Alex, on the other hand, looks at him, eyes narrowed, up and down, in full dad mode.
I elbow his side and he coughs.
"Welcome to Outer Banks, Michael." says Alex and my eyes widen, same as mom's, and Mike nods simply.
"Calm down." I whisper to his ear and he smiles like he's clearly enjoying it. Mike though seems to be sweating.
"Let's get you two inside." mom pats both mine and Mike's backs and shows us in. It's still the same. It's still feels like home.
"Mike, our bedroom is to the left, and the bathroom is the door in the center." I inform him and he nods.
"So, what do you do for a living, Mike?" Alex asks him as soon as we all sit down at the couch, after putting our suitcases to my room.
"Oh, I'm a teacher at a middle school in California." he answers and comes closer to me, putting a hand on my thigh.
"Hands to yourself." he quickly pulls it off of me and I bite my lip to prevent myself from two things: both laughing and yelling at Alex. But, I know what he's doing. Only one person hadn't fallen for it. Guess who.
They talk some more, mom coming to Mike's rescue plenty of times, which Alex probably doesn't like, but I'm thankful for her. Don't get me wrong, I'm thankful for Alex too, but he needs to chill a bit.
"So, what are you gonna do today?" mom asks us and I smile quickly with enthusiasm.
"How about a tour?" I say and turn to Mike, who nods and smiles, before yawning.
"But first, a nap, please." he tells me and I chuckle, telling him that I'm not tired but he should sleep. He pecks my cheek, quickly flinching when Alex narrows his eyes at him, and I roll my eyes. He goes to my room, and I stay with my parents now.
"What's wrong with you, dad? Why would you do that?" I cross my hands and Alex starts laughing, causing mom to laugh too. I look at the both of them confused. They're weird.
"Oh please, I was just messing with him. Only Damon wouldn't take the bait." he stops laughing now and Mom slaps his hand, as they watch me stiffen. Yep, you guessed it right, Damon wouldn't fall for his tricks.
There's an awkward silence, before I decide to speak again.
"So, has everyone arrived?" I ask them, mostly mom actually, and she nods.
"Josh arrived last night, I think, same as Dam-" she cuts herself off and I get up.
"Mom, stop, it's fine, you can say his name." I tell her and she nods, glancing at Alex.
