When Love Comes

August 2022

The first time he met Devale and Khadeen was in August at a dinner she had at her house. They'd been talking over 7 months and official over 4 months and it was time for them to meet each other. Kay and D were her family and it was very important they get along with any man she dated. Not only did she and Devale have a very intimate work relationship that many men couldn't handle but she was godmother to their son. She and the Ellis' had built a relationship that went far beyond just a coworker and his wife, they were family. 

She had been over they house one night watching sistas and had been surprised when Kay brought it up.

"So when we gonna meet this new boyfriend, Miss Crystal?," Kay asked eating her chips and staring at her.

"Yeah, you hiding him from us?," Devale jokingly asked, gesturing to him and Kay.

"Oh my gosh, no I'm not hiding him, y'all so dramatic," she said smiling at them and rolling her eyes.

"Inquiring minds wanna know," Devale said.

"I know, I know, its definitely time and he wants to meet y'all as well. I was thinking dinner at mine soon, y'all free next month? I know y'all get back from vacation the 1st," she said.

"Kids start school that week but we free the weekend and you know we gonna be pretty busy the rest of August," Devale said.

"Yeah deadass podcast tour, fam doing big thangs," she said dancing in her seat. They both laughed and started dancing too while D started jokingly wiping Kay shoulders.

"They ain't ready!!," Devale said shouting in a whisper since they kids were sleep.

"Me and my baby going up," Kay said as he kissed her cheek. Crystal watched them and couldn't help but smile, they were so affectionate and she loved it.

"So dinner in 3 weeks, my place?," she asked. 

"Hell yeah, we gotta meet ol boy, see if he good enough," Devale said.

"That's right, he gotta be worth you time, though I do like that he checked you so that's a point for him," Kay said teasingly but serious. 

"Not the boss being checked," Devale said chuckling and moving when kay elbowed him.

"Shut up Devale and thanks Kay," she said playfully glaring at him and smiling at Kay. "he's definitely worth my time and I can't wait for y'all to meet," she said.

"If he got you smiling the way you been smiling the last couple months I know he's doing a good job, us meeting him is just to feel him out," Devale said.

"We can tell you really like him and I'm sure we will too," Kay said smiling at her. She smiled at the two of them knowing they supported her and just wanted her to be happy.

"Thanks y'all," she said smiling at them and laughing when they both got up and hugged her.

3 weeks later 

"Hey, gorgeous, you look amazing," Ren said when she answered the door for him. She smiled at his compliment and took notice of the bottle of her favorite wine that he held in his hands.

"Hey babe," she said leaning up to kiss him. Ren grabbed her waist and she felt him move them from the doorway and heard the door close before he pressed her to him and deepened the kiss.

"Okay, sir, save that for later, D and kay will be here soon," she said breathless as they pulled away. He chuckled and squeezed her hip before stepping away.

"Yes ma'am," he said teasingly. She looked up at him to catch his eye and saw his smirk which made her playfully roll her eyes before turning to lead her him into the kitchen.
