Benevolent, though great in might
And Alduin did let alone
All mortals who to her did plightThough many sought for status then
To serve as priests for pow'r to gain
All those who pledged to Silmirnil
Did safely in her charge remainBut not all dragons were so kind
And ravaged mortalkind with death
For dominion was in their blood
As was all nature on their breathSilmirnil in her temple light

But when she saw the world's distress
It became always on her mindFor even though she loved her mate
And could not from him part
These crimes to peace would bring an end
She knew it in her deepest heartHer fears she told to Alduin
And begged him change his ways
But in his pride, he heeded not
Then dawned the darkest days•
