03 || Past

(Y/n) stepped foot outside which was covered in snow. "I'll be going then!!" She waved to her parents.

"Thank you (Y/n)," Her parents said as they waved back. Aki and Taiyo were behind them, trying not to freeze from the cold.

"It's nothing, really! I want Taiyo to get better too!" (Y/n) smiled at Taiyo and closed the door.

She dragged her foot across the heavy snow. It made a satisfying crunch sound as she walked towards the pharmacy to get her little brother's medicine. Taiyo had a weak body and (Y/n) wanted him to get better as soon as possible. An image of his smiling face flashed inside her mind and she smiled to herself. She believed that he would get all good and healthy after a couple of years.

It was (Y/n)'s job to go buy Taiyo's medicine in the Hayakawa family. She doesn't remember why she became that role but she doesn't mind. Aki, her twin brother, sometimes followed her but it was very rare. He does what he likes. (Y/n) likes going to the pharmacy because it means she can visit the city on the way.

(Y/n) hid the fact that she visits the city from her family because they would get jealous, especially her brothers. It was her little secret.

Just as always, she went to the pharmacy and bought Taiyo's medicine. She was used to it so she completed the task in mere seconds. For the remainder of the time, she would go to the city to look for interesting stuff.

As (Y/n) was roaming around the city, looking for new and interesting stuff, she felt the ground rumble a little. She thought nothing about it, since it might have been from all the people in here.

But minutes later, a strong gust of wind blew, everything flying and in the air. Screams and the crashing of buidlings were heard. (Y/n) stood in terror and confusion but she was soon blow away in the wind. 

(Y/n) flew in the air at inhuman speed. If she falls, she would die. She would die.

A single tear left her eye. Taiyo, Aki, Mom, Dad...

But her thoughts were disturbed when a strong arm wrapped her torso in midair.

"Huh?" Someone helped her?

She again flew away but this time, with a strong grip on her waist.

A few minutes have passed and the disaster ended.

The air was white from the snow being blown and she could see all the buildings destoryed, people on the ground unmoving, blood everywhere.

(Y/n) trembled in horror. It took her a few seconds to realize she was safely on the ground.

"Thank you-" (Y/n) turned around to see a girl with an odd eye of blue and yellow pupils. She had small and weird looking horns poking from the top of her brown hair. She had fangs on her teeth. Something was off about her. Like she wasn't human...

The girl smiled. "You're welcome... wait you're bleeding, hold on," She hovered her hand over (Y/n)'s injured leg and with a little zap, the cut was nearly healed.

"Wow..." (Y/n) looked in amazement. "Are you... not human?"

The mysterious girl cackled at her words. "Yeah, I'm not human indeed. I'm a... devil."

(Y/n) widened her eyes. "How come...? Huh?? Wait what? Why are you not killing me then?"

"I just wanted to do a good deed. Nothing more." The girl's smile was bright, and it almost made (Y/n) forget everything that just happened.

"I don't really know anything about devils but what's your name?" (Y/n) asked as she got up.

"Tama. You?"

"(Y/n)."

"Where you going?" Tama asked as (Y/n) started to walk away.

"Back home."

"Why?"

"I need to make sure my family's safe." (Y/n) said in a stern voice.

"I'll follow you. To make sure you're safe."

(Y/n) tried to put on a smile. "Thank you."

They walked towards (Y/n)'s house. But when they arrived, it was just pure nothingness.

Her house was completely destoryed. Taiyo wasn't really allowed to go ouside, when it's this cold outside. Her parents were always with Taiyo. Aki must have been playing inside because of the cold.

Which means they were all in the house that was blown away.

(Y/n) stared at the place where her house used to be. She couldn't think. Her mind was blank.

As she started to sink in all the reality, tears flowed nonstop from her eyes. Besides her, Tama looked at the ground with a sad face. She rubbded (Y/n)'s back as her shoulders raised up and down rapidly from all the sobbing.

"Eat."

"No."

Tama sighed. "You're gonna die soon."

"How do I know if that food is safe or not?" (Y/n) mumbled as she kicked a nearby rock.

"Look! I'm eating it! Am I dying? No!" Tama munched on the bread.

"Devils have different stomachs from humans. What if it's poison for only humans."

(Y/n)'s stomach rumbled.

"Come one..." Tama sat down on the ground and started to eat rest of the bread but (Y/n) stopped her hand.

"Actually, one bite," (Y/n) said.

Tama smiled big. "HERE!!"

"OMG STOP," (Y/n) yelled as Tama shoved bread up her thorat, almost choking her.

(Y/n) bit on the bread. It tasted fine. It didn't affect her stomach.

"I suppose it's good..." (Y/n) said as she stuffed the bread in her mouth.

"I told you," Tama shook her head.

(Y/n) searched for her family for days just in case. She couldn't believe the fact that they were dead. They might be alive somewhere. Maybe they escaped? She believed that her family was alive. At least Aki... 

But after days of searching, she lost hope.

And she started living with Tama in a little cabin that was abandoned. It has been a few months since this living started.

Although Tama is a devil, she was very nice and helpful. (Y/n) completely got along with her. She let her guard down and forgot the fact that Tama was a devil. 

At first, (Y/n) was very cautious when Tama said they should live together because she had known that devils killed humans. However, Tama was different. She had a human heart. Besides the fact that she sometimes drinks animal blood and uses powers, she was clearly human. 

Tama and (Y/n) became best friends and they were really comfortable together.
