The crowded stands roared with cheers. With a new group of challengers, they awaited the upcoming battles.
Xiaomei stepped into their view from the head section in the stands. "I know the past, present, and future. Life can become quite dull and boring when one is aware of everything that will ever happen. That's exactly the reason why I placed a single limit on my knowledge." She wiped the drool pooled at the corner of her lips. "And that would be the outcome of a battle! Oh! Seeing bodies clash against each other! Blood and sweat both flying through the air! Never knowing who will win or lose! It's simply beyond delicious!" Just talking about it brought her great pleasure.
(Y/N) cringed, "why are we always dealing with weirdos? I swear we can never catch a break."
"Yes! The outcome of battle is the only thing even I don't know! That makes it so hot!" The fortune teller sounded like she was about to burst with excitement, voice going higher after every sentence. "Now it's time to battle! One of you must fight! Tell me, please, who's the first challenger?"
She returned to her former calm self. "Oh wait, I already know..."
"So basically, one of us has to fight and if we win, you'll tell us where to find Valkyrie?" (Y/N) broke down her instructions.
"Yes! Now choose! Right here and right now!"
Homura lifted her head with pride, "in that case, I volunteer."
"No, I will!" Shiki intruded. He flexed his arm, gearing up for the fight. But Homura wanted to be the one to take this challenge. She was the one who came looking for Valkyrie after all. It meant so much to her. "Shiki..."
(Y/N) also chimed in, "Shiki, it should be Homura. It's for her teacher. Just let her do it." She insisted. But Shiki had already made up his mind. "Don't worry! You can leave the fight to me!" And (Y/N) could only sigh as she watched him make his way to the middle. She snuck a glance at the blue haired maiden then quickly looked away after realizing she was already staring at her.
The two hadn't spoken since their last chat at the Dress Factory. (Y/N) still hadn't recovered from their awkward encounter and Homura wanted to try giving her the space she clearly wanted. Although it did surprise the swordsman when the shadow user stuck up for her. It's the reason why she likes (Y/N) so much, the woman was a bombshell. Always astounding her in the choices she made, her mind was an enigma that kept Homura wanting to know more.
The main thing being; her past. Where did she come from? What has happened to her to make her open up so slowly? Who was the "greedy son of a bitch" that caused her to be alone? And at the top of her list, how did (Y/N) feel about her?
Weisz's voice broke her from those thoughts. "You better not lose!"
"You got this, Shiki!" Rebecca cheered.
"Hurry this up so we can go home!" (Y/N) yelled.
"Wait. If you don't know the outcome of the upcoming battle, doesn't that mean you don't know the future beyond it either?" Happy asked the fortune teller.
"The future has many paths. And I can see the timeline for both of the outcomes. Nothing is set in stone. I always like to say, 'The future can be changed!' Be sure to keep that in mind!"
"So she's just using us for her own pleasure? Great." Rebecca deadpanned.
The crowd's screams for a show increased. Homura insisted again, "Shiki, this is my fight."
"No. This is a fight to help me find my friend! Witch, Sister, and Hermit, their friends are my friends." He threw her a look of determination, promising that he would be victorious.
