·͙*̩̩͙˚̩̥̩̥*̩̩̥͙ Aurelia [au-re-li-a] Jaime  [hay · meh] *̩̩̥͙˚̩̥̩̥*̩̩͙‧͙

What they say about freshman 15 is true, being away from home and relying on terrible cafeteria food and then spending loads of money on junk food because there was zero supervision on what you eat and don't work out you start gaining weight. It didn't bother Aurelia until she started to lose weight without changing any of her diet or nonexistent exercising regimen.

In being a responsible adult Aurelia went to the doctors - after a month of putting it off - and came out with life changing news that made her get rid of her blue hair. It also made her cash in that favor in return for a job that would give her health insurance to cover everything she would need to stay alive i.e. insulin.

Being told she has Type 1 diabetes meant relearning everything about her body and what it meant to be healthy. Like how she needed an alarm with an annoying ringtone to remind her to check her blood sugar with a prick of her finger. Low blood sugar meant she needed to act fast depending on how low the number is by taking glucose in tablets or sugary foods. High blood sugar meant Aurelia needed to exercise or once again change her meal plans, or even take insulin.

Taking insulin at first meant getting very comfortable with using a needle on the back of her arm. After five times of doing the act Aurelia started to get comfortable with the act of needing to excuse herself from social gatherings to check her blood pressure and carry a needle and insulin vial with her everywhere. It got people to think she was on drugs but considering who her friend was - Jessie - people didn't care for the real reason and Jessie nor Louis were going to correct people by telling them she's diabetic without her consent.

So after working for at least six months under Lucius Fox her health insurance kicked in and she qualified to get an insulin pump within her budget. After falling down a rabbit hole of pro's and con's she set up an appointment and got the insulin pump.

Sure now she had to commit to testing her blood sugar 4-6 times a day or continuously monitor her glucose but zero needles now. At first it was uncomfortable and she contemplated either hiding the device with her clothes or not caring if it was visible.

Only things weren't perfect right away, there was an adjustment period and then a reality check, especially when she started to live by herself at the start of her third year at college. After one long night of not remembering to eat anything her insulin pump starts to beep making her weak and almost faint - this happened twice.

It's what led her to look for a roommate. She considered asking Jessie to move in with her only to find out her and Louis were signing an apartment lease in two days. Sean was the next choice knowing she'd feel safe being roommates with him, but he wasn't going to leave the free housing his lacrosse scholarship gave him.
