Turned out no one in the Reyes household having a job meant everyone was able to go with Jaime to Kord Industries. Once again packed in the back and sitting on Jaime's lap Aurelia couldn't help but think the old blazer and khakis wasn't Jaime's best look.
As for Jaime looking up at the Kord building that made itself stand out by the purple neon strip of light was intimidating. Nervously exhaling Jaime mumbles to himself, "Okay, okay. Jaime you got this"
"Animo mijo!" Alberto shouts making Jaime sign letting his head fall not having been able to take a step towards the building
"Gah," Jaime mutters turning around to see his family all either standing outside the car or inside "Thank you Pa. Of course you guys can go, okay?"
"You're going to be okay, flaquito. You belong here" Rocio calls out to her boy while having an arm around her husband
"Yeah cabezon," Rudy shouts having gotten out of the car and standing on the open door "you look like an asshole just like everyone else here"
"A ver ven acá, ven acá." Nana Reyes calls out for the young boy making him listen and walk over to her "Se me olvido darte la bendición. Hombre! Hasta me atraganto. Ven ven. Que dios me lo bendiga y que me lo tenga siempre sano"
"Bring your A-game bro" Milagro wishes but really it sounded more like a threat
"Bring a motocol cocktail to burn this dump down!" Rudy shouts making Jaime stop looking down at his grandma thankfully and up and his uncle who he wanted to shut up
Jaime turns to walk back towards the building just as Milagros shouts through the sunroof, "Hey, and get me a job, too!"
Jaime replies with a waves of his hand behind him making Milagros tap the roof of the truck starting to chant her brothers name which made Jaime stop walking
"Jaime! Jaime!" The family start to chant and Rudy even presses on the trucks horn. It was all too much for Aurelia not to join in
At an older suited man walking past him curiously looking at his family Jaime jokes, "They don't get out much"
Jaime shakes his head but doesnt look back before continuing to walk towards the building that was what felt like his only lifeline. Any confidence he had quickly vanished when the receptionist stereotyped him at first glance, and then butchered his name. It didn't get any better because once he did spot Jenny Kord she tried to move their meeting to a different day and then a security alarm rang throughout the building making her hand over a Big Belly Burger take out box and say to guard it with his life.
