In the early morning, the truck turns into a dirt road and makes a right driving through a broken gateway that has a metal arch reading 'Kord Estate'.
The vehicle comes to a stop just as the grill blows out smoke and the vanity plate falls off. Arriving to their secret destination Jaime starts to caress Aurelia's sleeping face that rested on his shoulder, "Sweetpea, wake up"
"Mhmm okay," Aurelia mumbles, lifting her hand to the sides of her mouth really hoping she didn't drool. Jaime thinks it's cute but Aurelia couldn't take his word on that considering he's been known to walk around the apartment with socks that have holes in them
"They're not gonna look for you here?" Jaime asks Jenny as they get out of the car making a group of flamingos squawk away making Aurelia jump back into Jaime's arms - which looked delicious in the tank top even if he faintly smelled horrible - she had not expected to see flamingos
"No one's been here since I was eight." Jenny morbidly replies as they face an abandoned mansion
Without another word the four walk up the stairs where Jenny opens the main door which lets out a loud creak.
While Jenny may not have lived in the house since she was eight, the house was in a semi-good condition. Everything looked intact and not looted, meaning the various amounts of art on the walls and on the ground with a mosaic of a scarab, identical to the one Jaime had brought home, were visible.
Jenny taps the digital watch on her wrist causing the mosaic floor to slowly disappear as stairs take its place.
"Yeah, I get it. That makes sense." Ruddy tries to rationalize as they walk down the stairs that had just appeared and led to somewhere dark
Holding on to the banister Aurelia couldn't help but notice that while there wasn't much light as they walked down after Jenny, in the light there were hung paintings of blue scarabs. The constant theme felt like someone's obsession
"So, your dad was all obsessed with Scarabs, huh?" Rudy asks walking past Jenny who stops by a fuse box "Where are we?"
The dark hallway starts to light up once Jenny flips the switch. Lights of blue and purple hues light up the room making the scarab staircase they'd just walk through make sense - to some more than others.
"No way. Wait." Rudy starts to take in the mannequins that had old low-budget superhero costumes "Ted Kord was Blue Beetle? Wow!"
"Who?" Aurelia questions as she walks down the purple-lit steps
