I was just about asleep when I heard Jay start yelling.
“I’m going to freaking kill him!”
I walked out of my room just as Tom did. And he did not look happy.
“What is going on? I’m trying to sleep!”
Jay looked at all of us. “Nathan is gone. He’s not in his room.”
“This is my fault,” Logan looked down at the ground.
“Yes, it is. If you hadn’t said yes to Hunter, we could all be happy right now. But no, you had to go and hurt my best friend!”
Bridget walked over and pecked Jay on the lips. “Hey, calm down.”
My jaw dropped. Wait, what? Since when were they together?
“Wait, what?”
“Well, you see…” she began.
“Why didn’t you tell us?” I asked, kind of hurt.
“Every time we tried, something happened,” Jay looked at Logan with a glare.
“How?” Shannon asked.
“Um, turns out my parents are good friends with his family. So they decided to take a trip to Nottingham to see them. They took me with. And I met Jay. We started off as really good friends. But after talking on skype for so long, we decided to try dating. We haven’t seen each other in person in about a year a half,” Bridget explained.
“I’m really happy for you Bridget,” Logan said; I could tell she was lying. “Now, if you’ll excuse me. I know exactly where Nathan is.”
We all watched her leave. Jay actually started to go after her, but Bridget stopped him. “Let her do this alone.”
We all sat on the chairs or the floor as Jay and Bridget took the couch. They snuggled up together and we started asking them questions about their relationship. I’m not going to lie, I was actually really jealous. Not because I wanted to be with Jay, but because the guy I liked was with another girl.
I was so close to falling asleep. Every time my eyes shut, it got a lot more difficult to open them. I noticed that Bridget was already fast asleep on Jay’s shoulder. I smiled slightly.
“I’m going to head up to bed,” I told the people who were awake.
“Good night, Haley,” Shannon said.
I stood up and wobbled slightly. I got my footing and sighed. I was a lot more tired than I thought. I made my way up to my room and on the top step I tripped and fell backwards.
The scream got caught in my throat, but arms were suddenly around me. I looked up and into hazel eyes. Tom grinned cheekily and helped me up. I blushed from how close he was standing.
“Thank you, Tom,” I breathed out.
He smirked. “It was no problem. Couldn’t let a pretty girl fall now could I?
I giggled and turned around to leave. Then Tom asked me a question that really got me thinking.
“Haley, what would you do if the person you were dating started to fall out of love with you?”
I furrowed my eyebrows. “Tom, I don’t think I’m the right person to ask. I mean, I’ve never had a boyfriend. This seems like a conversation you’d have with Kelsey.”
“That’s the problem! Kelsey won’t talk to me. She’s been avoiding me for a couple months now!”
Tom was really worked up over this. And I did feel really bad; anyone could see how much Tom loved Kelsey.
