Morning at Driftmark had begun as soon as the sun had risen, the ships were being loaded to leave for King's Landing, and Laenaera had not slept all night. The maidens had knocked on her door but by that time she was already wearing her riding habit and had a lot of energy, when they tried to comb her hair on several occasions they had to start from scratch because the young Velaryon did not want to stay still, she was anxious to Starting now, outside the castle, Scarletmoon was jumping, feeling the emotions of her rider.

When the order was given to start assembling the ships, Laenaera was already on her dragon and was almost screaming to hurry up, Laenor had told her to hide her excitement but she had only pushed him into the sea, he had to change his clothes.

The ships set sail and with them the dragons, Rhaenys was riding Meleys, her beautiful scarlet dragon who had previously belonged to princess Alyssa Targaryen, Laenor was riding Seasmoke, the beautiful white dragon while Laenaera was riding her beloved dragon Scarletmoon. Lord Corlys and Laena were on the ships accompanied by the others who were going to serve them during their stay in the capital. Laenaera knew the way to King's Landing well, she had been there many times, Scarletmoon knew the way by herself, it almost seemed that she was the one guiding the boats and not Lord Corlys. The Velaryons had spoken so often that Laenaera would make a good mistress of the tides, when Lord Corlys was a child she had called her The Sea Dragon, an affectionate nickname linked to her own: the Sea Serpent. A marriage between Laenor and Laenaera had been mentioned twice, and the brothers had been delighted by the idea, not because they loved each other that way, but because they could marry someone they knew even though the part about bedridden and heirs scared them, and It made them not want to marry each other as was the tradition of houses with Valyrian blood.

Lord Corlys was part of the king's court, his visits to Kings Landing were frequent, enough to know everything that was going on and to have an afternoon of comments with his wife, the Velaryon brothers enjoyed secretly listening to those talks and even they enjoyed making comments between the three of them, Laena was still very young but still trying to understand why her brothers did it.

At the rate the ships were going they would arrive at sunset, Laenaera having been given permission to go ahead with Scarletmoon, Rhaenys and Laenor would fly slower so they could keep up with the ships. When they were halfway there, Leah increased her speed and with a nod indicated to her mother that she would fly faster, Rhaenys responded in kind with a nod. Scarletmoon roared with excitement and began to fly freely through the clouds, Laenaera was the one who seemed to enjoy it the most and of course she did. Who wouldn't enjoy flying on a dragon? Or rather, who wouldn't want to have a dragon?

Her trip had been shorter than expected, perhaps Scarlet was also anxious to see Syrax, her flight companion. King's Landing could be seen in the distance and that increased the excitement of the young dragons.

"... With whom she married?"

"With Lord... Something," Rhaenyra replied matter-of-factly.
