Three years later....
How for three years, the morning in Driftmark had started calmly, Laenaera had picked up her sister from her chambers to go together to their lessons with the septa, when they finished they both went in search of Princess Rhaenys who arrived with a letter in hands.
Lord Corlys had gone to fight his war on the stone steps, he had taken Vaemond Velaryon with him and Laenor. Laenaera and Laena were the most worried about their brother. They understood that Daemon had joined them and maybe that way they would have a better chance of winning, maybe.
In those three years, Laenaera's visits to King's Landing had been even rarer than they had been before, the letters she sent with Rhaenyra began to be less constant until it was only one per moon. Alicent had sent letters to Laenaera and although she tried not to answer them she still did, now Alicent was her queen and her act of ignoring her could get her into trouble.
Laena and Laenaera had both reached the appropriate age to be offered in marriage and the letters with marriage requests were increasingly constant, important houses competed for the hand of the young Ladies, the house Velaryon was one of the two survivors of Valyria. The great Lords of the kingdom wanted to have Valyrian blood, Princess Rhaenyra would be more difficult to obtain in marriage so Laena and Laenaera had been considered the "easy option". Letters arrived every day and Princess Rhaenys had taken it upon herself to burn them all. Laenor was the one who was already much older, yet he was the least worried and Laenaera knew why, Laenor was not interested in women just as Laenaera was not interested in men, a total disorder according to Lord Corlys. Vaemond Velaryon's intentions were more noticeable as the years went by and he increasingly hinted at a marriage with his young niece, Rhaenys always tried to keep him away from her eldest daughter.
That day a letter arrived from King's Landing, the second name day of Prince Aegon Targaryen, son of Viserys and Alicent, would be celebrated. Laenaera had sent her congratulations to Alicent upon learning of her first pregnancy, and, when she tried to congratulate Rhaenyra, the princess took it as an insult and did not broach the subject again. Laenaera had been specially invited by Princess Rhaenyra to Aegon's celebration.
Laenaera had begged her mother to let her go and after two days of begging and pleading she had said yes, the young Lady left immediately for King's Landing.
📍 King's Landing
"Under the eye of the dragon." The bard sings. "Under the eye of the dragon."
"Again". Rhaenyra demanded.
"Perhaps the princess wants to hear something else."
"She doesn't want to. Sing it again." She demanded again.
The bard prepared himself and began his song again, the hunt for Aegon's second name day would take place in the royal forest and Rhaenyra, being the princess and eldest daughter of the king, had to be present, she couldn't care less.
