The dinner went well, and students started heading home. Zeni had already left, but Tasha remained. Ashar observed the scene unfolding before him. The night grew late, and the lawn emptied. Only the department staff and cleaning crew were left behind. As departure time neared, the Head of Department (HOD) was growing increasingly concerned, repeatedly trying to call someone and searching all around.
Noticing the HOD's restlessness, Hamza, feeling a bit impatient, decided to ask, "Sir, kis ko dhoond rahay hain aap?" (Sir, whom are you looking for?)
“Tasha ko! Main usay call kar raha hoon, lekin woh phone nahi utha rahi. (Tasha! I've been trying to call her, but she's not picking up.)” The HOD replied with a worried expression
Ashar, Hamza, and Ali took on the task and split up, searching everywhere. Ashar chose to check backstage. While there, he noticed two crew members recording something at the side of the stage. Approaching them, he planned to remind them of their duties, but what he saw angered him.
With swift actions, he gripped the back of their necks firmly. The boys winced in pain, struggling to break free, but Ashar's grip held them in place.
"Apne phones zameen par rakho ABHI!" (Place your phones on the ground right now!)” He commanded them sternly. They obeyed, their voices tinged with fear as they pleaded for forgiveness. Ashar's grip tightened, and he released them, his stern glare enough to make them flee. He reset both phones, erasing all data, and threw them back onto the stage.
Continuing forward, he found Tasha asleep on the stairs at the side of the stage. Her head rested on her folded hands, a vulnerable sight that had prompted the boys' misbehavior. What the boys were recording was her in an indecent condition. Her chest, collar bone, and neck were visible. He gently adjusted her hijab so it was covering her chest properly. Still simmering with anger, Ashar turned away and headed back.
He informed Hamza of Tasha's location and was met with a puzzled look and a query, "Tum ne usay wahan dekha? (You saw her there?)”
"Tu usay laya kyun nahi saath? (Why didn't you bring her along?)” He asked.
"Woh soyi hui hai. Usay utha kar saath le aa ab! Jaldi kar, mujhay ghar bhi jana hai! Ammi aur Maira akelay hain ghar par! Bohot late ho gaya hai already! (She's asleep. Just wake her up and bring her along now! Do it quickly, I also need to go home. Mom and Maira are alone at home! It's already very late!)” Ashar responded with a casual tone, though his anger wasn't completely hidden from Hamza.
"Koi aur bhi baat hai! Kuch hua hai na? Tu gusse mein hai! Sach bata, kya hua hai? Ghar par sab theek hai na? Aunty? Meri Maira? (There's something else, isn't there? You're upset about something! Tell me the truth, what happened? Is everything alright at home? Auntie? My Maira?)” Hamza inquired with genuine concern.
"Han han, teri Maira bhi theek hai! Ja na abhi! (Yes yes, your Maira is fine too! Just go now!)” Ashar replied with irritation and controlled anger.
"Okayyyy?!" Hamza made a face and retorted before heading toward the stage.
Upon reaching the stage, he found Tasha sleeping, looking incredibly adorable. He sometimes felt like pinching her cheeks, and other times, he wanted to adopt her and keep her as a pet. If Ashar or Tasha ever found out his thoughts, he'd be skinned alive. The idea gave him shivers, causing him to shake his head and wake her up by calling out.
"Kisi ki ammi nay usay ghar se nikaal diya hai! Kisi ko HOD dhoond rahay hain! Kisi ne haveli jaana tha aaj! (Someone's mom has kicked her out of the house! Someone's searching for her with the HOD! Someone had to go to the mansion today!)” He said loudly, and Tasha woke up with a startled expression. Regaining her senses, she registered what Hamza had said.
"Apko koi aur kaam nahi hai? Jab dekho meray kaam ke beech aa jaatay hain? (Don't you have anything else to do? You always interfere with my work?)” She asked irritably.
"Wahi tou! Apko koi kaam hi tou nahi hai! (Exactly! You don't have any work!)” He cheekily replied.
"Kya chahiye apko bhai? (What do you want, brother?)” She asked with a resigned pout.
"Uth jao! Tumharay Taya Jaan bula rahe hain! Phone bhi nahi utha rahi thi. Kafi pareshan hain wo! (Get up! Your Taya Jaan is calling you! You weren't answering the phone. He's quite worried!)” He finally said with a serious expression and gestured for her to walk ahead.
"Oh ho! Sorry sorry! Phone silent par hai! Meri pocket mein hi hai woh. Chalein! (Oh no! Sorry sorry! The phone is on silent! It's in my pocket. Let's go!)” She facepalmed at her forgetfulness and then said. They both walked out of the lawn and headed to the parking lot. Ashar had already informed the HOD that she was coming with Hamza, so he was waiting for his niece. Ashar and Ali were also there, waiting for Hamza to return so they could leave together.
