Chapter Nine

"There's nothing louder, than the silence between two people who used to love each other."

We continue to walk through the forest looking for any sign of Octavia. "I got nothing, We lost the trail." Finn stated out of breath.

"Well keep looking." Bellamy, said back to Finn. Frustration was clearly written on his face. We've been looking four hours, it was almost midday at this point. I continue to look at the ground for tracks, a few of the others passing me along. "Wandering around aimlessly isn't gonna find your sister, we should backtrack--"Finn started but Bellamy had cut him off.

"I'm not going back." Bellamy said, I look up at him and give him a reassuring nod. "Hey where's John?" Roma asked. I look behind me where I swear he was not five seconds ago. Everyone turns around in circles looking around before a thud came crashing down directly in front of me. "Oh fuck." I say out loud as I look at his neck that had been slit. I hear Bellamy clear his throat before speaking. "Language." He says. Is this bitch for real right now? I give him a look of now is not the time, before turning to Finn. "They use the trees." I say before looking up.

"We shouldn't have crossed the boundary."

"Now can we go back?"

A chorus of things fly out before Jasper points a stick to his right. "There." He says. A grounder had appeared in seconds. "Another one, there." A boy points out. They were circling us in almost every direction. I feel Bellamy's hand slip into mine before pulling me closer. "Guys I um, think we should run, right about now." I gulp out. As soon as the words left my mouth we all started running. I let go of Bellamy's hand in order for us to run faster, but I stuck close by to him. My lungs began to burn and my side started getting sharp pains in it. "I can't run much longer!" Jasper yells from behind me.

"I'm not stopping for him!" A boy yells. Suddenly Bellamy and Finn stop causing all of us to stop as well. "I'm sick of running from them anyways, they know where she is!" Bellamy says. Before anyone could reply Roma sprinted off in a direction, "Diggs where are you!" She called out. We all chased after her until we heard a scream making us run even faster if possible. "Roma, wait there could be more!" Finn called out but stopped running suddenly causing me to fall into Jaspers back. I peered to the side of him as I see Diggs. Dead, blood running out of his mouth and nose.

"There leading us here." Jasper breathes out. His eyes wide open.

"It's the only direction we can run in, it's a trap." I say in between breaths. Finn looks around and not a single grounder can be seen. "Where'd they go?" He asks.

"After Roma." Bellamy replies without looking back he walks towards where Roma was running before.  We hear another scream, so we know were going in the right direction. I was last in the line walking and I was so paranoid I was turning around every five seconds. "Yes, lets go towards the screams." I mutter sarcastically. Bellamy is the only one who looks back. He opens his mouth to say something but quickly shuts it, He stops walking, letting jasper go Infront of him. I stopped as well and gave him a confusing look before he nodded his head to go past. He was now last in line. He must've noticed me turning around. I would have usually said something about how I can handle myself, but I shut my mouth. If you wanna be last in line be my guest, don't gotta tell me twice. We slowly walk forward, spears and weapons raised. Finn suddenly speaks. "There she is, Roma!" He yells.

They stop as Bellamy and I pass them, jogging closer, we turn the corner and see a spear sticking out of her chest. I can hear Finn and the others whispering quietly as I watch Bellamy close Roma's eyes. "She only came because of me." He mutters. I give him a look of sympathy. "Not your fault, Bell." I whisper. I join the others only a few feet away. All of a sudden Jasper starts screaming.
