That was the first decent night sleep I've gotten for a long time. I didn't have my alcoholic father making so much noise so I'm feeling so refreshed this morning.

I put on my slippers and made my way downstairs, into the kitchen. "Good morning sweetheart. Want some toast?" My uncle asked. "Yes please." I smiled, sounding chipper. The smell of him cooking breakfast brought back some memories of visiting and having a great time.

Steve wasn't far behind me in waking up and coming into the kitchen. He barely looked at his father and made himself some toast. I guess that's what Steve and I have in common, we both have issues with our fathers. He didn't even offer to make Steve some breakfast. It felt uncomfortable.

"Morning Steve, sleep well?" I asked, hoping to get a response.
"It was ok. What about you?" He didn't seem like he wanted a conversation, but still didn't want to make me feel unwelcome.
"It was great."
Steve didn't acknowledge me as much as I'd like him to.

"So, Y/N. We're going away for work again. Not sure when we'll be home, but make yourself at home. This is your place now too." My uncle spoke up.

"Um, thanks." I chuckled, nervously. "I trust you enough to keep this place standing." He nudged me and laughed.
It wasn't long before my aunt and uncle were out the door, leaving Steve and I with a free house.

"Thank god they've left." Steve blurted out, like he had been holding his breath the entire time.
"What's going on with you and your dad?" I bit my tongue as the question seemed to slip out with ease.

"You know he's always hated me. Thinks I'm a waste of space and whatnot." Steve tried avoiding eye contact with me, so I placed my hand in his arm, to tell him I'm here if he needs to talk.

I could sense he didn't wanna talk about it so I changed the subject. "When are you picking Dustin up?"
"Around 10:30."

"I'll probably head out then, stroll around Hawkins."
"Come with us if you want."

"Are you sure? I don't wanna intrude on you guys."
"I'm sure, you can join us."

I appreciate Steve trying to make me feel welcome. I've got plenty of time to explore more of Hawkins. Plus this way, I can speak with Dustin about Eddie. I'd love to get to know him more.

"Thanks Steve." I smiled.

We had our breakfast and I got myself ready for the day ahead.
I made my bed and sorted through a couple things to pass time until Steve told me we had to go.

"He's a funny kid, isn't he?" I made conversation. "He's annoying but he's a good kid." Steve chuckled. "He's not annoying at all. If anything, I like how you guys have banter."

We arrived at Dustin's place and made our way to this hill.
"Oh hey Y/N, what are you doing here?" Dustin asked.
"Just fancied tagging along, hope you don't mind."

"Not at all, though it might be boring." I chuckled a little and stared at the passing trees and cars.

We reached the bottom of the hill and Dustin and I made our way up. Steve stayed behind as I wanted to be nosey at what Dustin had built.

Dustin was telling me all about his girlfriend and how extremely pretty she is. This dude is head over heels for her and I think it's cute.

"So, Dustin. I need to ask you something, while Steve isn't here."
"Sure, whatcha got on your mind?"

"Well, the thing is," My heart fluttered as Eddie crossed my mind.
"Is there a way I can contact Eddie? He seems like a nice guy and I'd love to hear his band play."
