February 10th, 2010. Rutland, VT
“Morgan! Come out, Morgan!” Yelled Morgan’s (Maigent) Earth sister, Riley. They were playing hide and seek while the sun was still shining before it rained. Riley checked everywhere for her. She searched the barn, not a soul. She searched the basement of the house, not a soul. She checked the spooky boiler room, not a soul. She checked under all the beds in all of the rooms, and still not a soul. She went outside to check once more to check, before giving up.
“Okay, Morgan, I give up!!” She shouted aloud so that Morgan could hear her. But there was no sign of response. This is where Riley started to get a little worried.
She stepped off the porch steps to call out her sister’s name.
“Morgannn!!” No sound.
Getting more and more worried, Riley ran back into the house to call her parents. As she picked up the landline phone, she heard something coming from the back. It was a creaking sound. The house has old wooden floors so every time someone walks on it, it’ll creak. She was hoping that Morgan was coming inside.
“Morgan, is that you?” Riley slowly walked into the house’s back. As she looked there was still no one there. Until she felt two hands latch onto her shoulders.
“Boo!” Morgan yelled.
Riley screamed loudly, nearly crying. Morgan laughed at the reaction of her sister.
“Why would you do that, Morgan!?”
“Hahaha, you should see your face!”
“It’s not funny! I’m telling mom and dad!”
“Oh, boo hoo hoo. Riley got scarred, Riley got scarred!” Morgan teased.
“Stop. I was worried about you.”
“Why?”
“I thought something bad happened to you, you wouldn’t say anything.”
“It’s hide and seek, of course I aren’t supposed to give away where I’m hiding.”
“But I gave up. Where were you anyway?”
“Under the porch.”
“You know mama said not to go under there, right?”
“Why? Because creepy crawlies are under there? I’m fine.”
“Just don’t scare me like that anymore.”
“Fine, you little sissy.”
Morgan and Riley walked back into the living room. They sat down on the couch to watch some cartoons. A while later, their parents were back home. But something was up with them. Their parents came rushing into the living grabbing the girls and trying to hide them in a secret room inside of the walls, their father built for them for burglaries.
“Mom, dad, what’s going on? Asked Morgan.
“Shh… don’t worry about it.” Their father said, closing the door.
“Henry hurry!”
Not able to see what was going on, they were able to hear. They heard loud trucks and lots of men. They could hear their mother talking to someone.
“Where’s the child?” A woman asked.
“Please, just give us more time, she's not ready, yet!” Their mother begged.
“You had more than enough time, Mrs. Rogue.” A man replied to her. To the girl’s ears he sounded old.
“She’s only 6!” Exclaimed their father.
“She’ll learn more the younger she is.”
“So then let us teach her.” Their mother suggested.
“You are only ordinary human beings. What can you possibly teach her?”
Morgan and Riley had no idea what was going on. It was too much going on, to keep up with one conversation.
“Who are they talking about?” Asked Riley.
“I don’t know.” Morgan replied.
They continued to listen to some more. They could hear their mother crying and smashing, as if someone were being pushed back. They then heard footsteps at the wall they were in. It stopped. Riley was wondering if it was their father or mother.
“Mom, dad?” Said Riley. Morgan hurried to cover Riley’s mouth and looked at her angrily.
“Shush.” Morgan whispered.
The door then opened and a hand grabbed the girls as they screamed.
“I got’em sir!” Yelled a soldier.
He dragged the girls into the living room with everyone else.
“No!” Shouted their mother. And standing above them was a man.
“Please, Dr. Fahrenheit, you don’t have to do this.” Their father said, talking to the man towering over his daughters.
“This is a necessary action. You will still have one of your daughters, but this one she has to go.” Dr. Fahrenheit summoned a soldier to grab Morgan. He and the rest of the soldiers began walking out with Morgan. Riley and their parents beg the man to not take Morgan.
“Mama, help me!!” Morgan cried out.
They were about to toss her into the truck, when Morgan was able to wiggle her way out of the man’s arms. She tried to run to her parents when another man grabbed her.
“Let go of meeee!!!” When Morgan screamed, her eyes began to glow and caused electricity to enter the man’s body and blow him up.
“Morgan!!” Her sister called out, terrified of what just happened.
Morgan began to alleviate high in the air. Her hair got static, the weather began to change. Unknowingly, Morgan started making lightning shards hit straight towards the ground, even hitting most of the soldiers.
“Do you see what I mean now!?” Dr. Fahrenheit yelled at the couple.
“Morgan stop!!” Yelled her mother.
But she couldn’t stop soon enough, they’ve all felt a shift and then it all started to feel weird. Like the Earth stopped spinning. And so it did. The ground started to shake and crack. They tried to calm down Morgan, but nothing helped. The soldiers were shooting her, but it was like the more they shot at her the more powerful she was becoming. Gravity was changing. And when things were about to get a whole lot worse, she suddenly snapped out of it. She then started chanting things.
“Motherlord, Death Cage, Maigent. Motherlord, Death Cage, Maigent. Blood of Halo-” And then she was silent.
“Baby, wake up!” Their mother cried out.
Morgan’s body was just still. She was conscious but she wouldn’t make a move. Her eyes were frozen, her entire body was. Though, you could hear her breathing.
“Do you now see what I was saying? She’s an unstable being.” Said Dr. Fahrenheit.
“No, it’s your fault! She’s never done this before, until y’all showed up!” Their mother was furious. Her husband grabbed her to calm her down.
“Sustain yourself woman!”
“Look what you’ve done to my daughter!!” Their mother was forcing herself towards Dr. Fahrenheit.
“Collect the child, we must go now, before anything else happens.” One of the soldiers grabbed Morgan and placed her in the truck. Mother was crying, Riley was silent, while the father stood there looking at Dr. Fahrenheit, knowing there was nothing else that he could do.
