Rhiannon jumped as her mother entered the room. She was wearing her white cloak, and her hood was down, showing her long hair.
She stared at Arez, who was fidgeting. He was not used to being the center of attention. That was his father's forte.
Raven raised a brow at the two, her arms crossed over her chest. Rhiannon smiled guiltily, setting herself on her bed. Arez sat next to her, but not too close, noticing the threatening look given off by her mom.
Raven was the first to talk, staring at her daughter.
"Please do explain why he is in your room."
Arez looked to Rhiannon, his eyes questioning.
Rhiannon took a deep breath, keeping her voice even.
"Earlier, I went out to find him, and while I was with him, he confessed a few things."
Raven urged her daughter to continue, taking a quick glance at Arez, who was looking down.
"Red X was gonna capture me, and Arez was supposed to help."
Raven narrowed her eyes, dark energy fizzling at her arms. Rhiannon quickly continued, her own magic at her hands, ready to protect Arez.
"But he didn't. He actually saved me. Mom, he's a good guy. I told you. And today he proved himself to me. He's safe. And I want him to stay here, at the tower, because Red X is gonna be after him."
She watched her mother's eyes for the response, and relaxed as Raven's amethyst orbs softened.
Raven nodded, her magic evaporating.
"Ok, Rhiannon, I'm trusting you. Both of you. And I'm going to have to speak to your father. So I want you and Arez in my room. He won't guess that you're in there. I'm not saying your father's a bad guy, I'm just saying he's got quite a temper, and won't like what he hears at first."
Rhiannon nodded, knowing her father and how he was. She gave her mom a quick hug, whispering a "thank you" to her. Raven walked the two next door to her room, and let them in.
"Don't touch the spell books. Or the statues. Actually, just don't touch my stuff. Okay?"
Rhiannon nodded, thinking back to the day she told Arez almost the same thing.

Nightwing entered the tower, seeing Starfire with Silkie on the couch. He nodded to her, going for the halls. He had gotten a mind talk from Raven, who had requested to see him in the tower.
He had rushed home, sensing the urgency in her voice. Now he was watching his wife walk towards him, her posture stiff, her steps quick.
He pulled her towards him, kissing her on the forehead. His questions came out fast and somewhat worried.
"Is she okay? What happened?"
Raven put her hands on his chest, her voice even.
"She's fine. But I need to tell you something. And you have to promise not to freak out."
She looked into the whites of his mask, pleading with him. He sighed, closing his eyes as he spoke.
"Ok."
So she told him. Told him about Arez, and how Rhiannon trusted him. And how she trusted him also. At first, Nightwing had said nothing, trying to pull away, but Raven had held on tight, reminding him of his promise.
Nightwing had relaxed a bit, trying to keep his cool. He agreed not to hurt the kid, and Raven had been grateful for that.
Raven also had something else to tell him, something extremely important. But she decided against it, feeling he had learned enough for the day.
She couldn't keep it from him for long though, that she knew. Because he would find out. It would be obvious as time went on. But she didn't worry about that now. She kept her main focus on her daughter, her husband, and the boy who was one of Nightwing's greatest enemies child.
