Bonus Chapter 1: Chasing The Dark Of The Night Away

A/N: SPOILER ALERT: I'm not experienced at writing birthing scenes. Correct me if I've got anything procedural wrong.

[6 Weeks Later]

Anchor weighed. Gangplank lowered. Feet (and hooves) set down on warm golden sand. Before them a vast grove of lush green palm trees. And beyond them in the distance, a truly breathtaking scene.

Finally, they were here.

"Nami...?"

The Navigator, currently dressed in a flower-pattern green bikini top and matching sarong skirt (leaving her belly exposed), was caught off-guard a moment by the troubled-sounding voice of her Captain, and husband. He turned and took firm but gentle hold of her hands, looking deep into her concerned doe eyes. "Nami... I know I should have said this to you before. Though we had a bunch of other things to think about at the time, and you probably saw everything while we were back in that church.. but.....

"... Sigh..

"... Since fighting Kaido... Since fighting Natsu, and then fighting 'Manly Core Stink'.... All the fights we keep getting dragged into, and the fights we always seem to find ourselves in... I keep finding something else about myself changing. And sometimes.. those changes have scared me.... Scared me into thinking that.. that I might become a threat... To the people around me.

".....

"... But..... I'm not scared now. Because some things don't change. My love for you and our family. And my dream. And if that's what it takes then I'll keep on fighting, to keep that side of myself in check. And to keep on being the man who my nakama have always put their faith in-"

"Luffy, you idiot." Nami interrupted offhandedly but still in her affectionate way, catching everyone of the crew who were now listening intently off-guard. She raised her hands to take hold of Luffy's arms, fixing him with a stern look. "Never once have I seen you scared of your own capabilities and I hope you're not going to start now..." And her expression softened. "I saw some of your fight with Natsu way back then. And I've already known for over 3 years now how much you will always put on the line to protect those you care for....

"We've all been through incredible changes since we first began our adventures together, and learned so much about each other and ourselves. But still, I have no reason to ever fear you becoming anyone other than who you truly are. Our Captain, my partner in life, my best friend. The man I fell in love with. And the man who will become The King of the Pir-AAAAAAAAAGGGGHHHHH!!"

Nami collapsed against Luffy's chest grimacing in pain while he slowly and fearfully lowered her to her knees, holding her securely. Chopper hurried over to the two anxiously, and stopped. Nami looked up to her husband's eyes with tears welling in her own. Chopper, like everyone else, was intently looking at the wet patch of sand that had suddenly appeared under her. "Luffy........... My waters just broke!"

Luffy slipped an arm around her back and gently cupped her cheek. And completely misread the situation. "It's okay Nami, sometimes.. people wet themselves is all... (Nami, like everyone else, stared at the Rubber-Man in disbelief)... We'll just, get you back aboard the Sunny and get you cleaned up-GUUUUHHHHGGGHH!!"

"I'M HAVING OUR BABY YOU IMBECILE!!!!!" Nami screeched in pain and frustration, throttling her dense captain furiously. Then released him and held her belly as another contraction wave hit her full force. Now Chopper was beside her and put a comforting hoof to her elbow. "Nami, I know it hurts now but we need to get you prepped for delivery. Do you think you can manage to walk back to the Sunny?" Nami looked to him, then down to her knees, and attempted to stand. Then collapsed again in Luffy's arms with a yelp and tears streaming.
