Healing Scars: TeamWork

Steve was ready when Wayne, Eddie, and Billy pulled up the driveway.

It took a bit of negotiating and some bribing but Steve had talked Max into staying with Robin.

Climbing into the back seat he noticed that Billy was staring out the front window of the truck at the house.

"You ok Billy" Steve asked.

"Yeah just wondering how Max was this morning," Billy said as he fiddled with his ponytail.

Eddie sat up and slapped Billy's hands and pulled the ponytail tighter onto his head.

"Thanks, Eddie," Billy said while Eddie patted his head and replied "No prob little brother".

"So money boy how did your night go," Eddie said with a smirk.

"Eddie what did I say," Wayne said as he started the truck and headed towards the hospital.

"It's ok Wayne and I'm fine thank you, Eddie. How did you and Billy sleep" Steve asked.

The evil smile Eddie got scared Steve and the words out of his mouth made it worse. "We cuddled real close. My hand is always on his chest" Eddie whispered into Steve's ear.

Steve flushed a bright red making Eddie laugh.

Wayne groaned as the quipping in the back seat continued. It was mostly Eddie but Steve got some in as well.

Billy just sat in his seat quietly as the buildings went by.

Wayne wondered if Billy would ever be able to handle being on his own again. He hadn't even asked about his car.

"It takes time," Wayne said to himself.

About ten minutes later they pulled into the hospital parking lot and parked near the entrance.

"This is the main hospital," Billy said nervously to Wayne.

Billy had been brought to the main hospital from the Byer's house and it's where he was questioned, sent through multiple blood tests, and where they had a very angry Neal come and sign paperwork to allow him to undergo mandated psychiatric help.

Wayne placed a hand on Billy's shaking one and said "We will all be here son. Dr. Prescott just wants to have you do some basic blood tests and afterward, we will talk with him and even Jane".

Billy wiped tears away with his free hand and nodded.

They all got out and headed inside. After checking in the nurse took Billy's weight she looked at Wayne with a worried face and waited for the boys to head into the lab to say anything.

"He's lost weight again Wayne. He is at least five pounds lighter than he was when he got released a few days ago. I'm worried about that" the nurse said sympathetically.

"Me too," Wayne said and thanked the nurse, and headed into the lab where they had just finished drawing Billy's blood.

The boy looked pale and from pictures Max shared with him he was so much leaner and less muscular than he had been.

But he smiled and joked with Steve and Eddie.

He was also worried about Steve. He had also lost weight and at dinner, he was as picky as Billy was with his food.

Taking a breath he asked Steve to accompany him outside assuring Billy they would be right where he could see them and that they would be back before the doctor came.

Thankfully Eddie distracted him with some new music from some band that in Wayne's opinion just yelled about things.

"Steve I noticed you just picking at your food kiddo, are you taking care of yourself," Wayne asked as they got outside.
