Chapter 39: A Sudden Fall

After getting his school supplies, Harry made his way back to the Hogwarts Express. As he entered a crowded compartment, he was surprised to find future Hermione sitting quietly in the corner, engrossed in a book.

"Hermione?" Harry exclaimed, his eyes widening in astonishment. "I didn't expect to see you here!"

Future Hermione looked up, a warm smile spreading across her face. "Hello, Harry," she greeted, setting her book aside. "I thought I'd surprise you and join you for the ride."

Harry couldn't help but feel a sense of comfort in seeing her familiar face. "That's great! I'm glad you're here," he replied, taking a seat next to her.

Just as they settled in, the compartment door slid open, revealing Ron, who appeared slightly flustered. His face paled as he caught sight of Harry and future Hermione together.

Before Ron could say a word, a chilling voice interrupted from outside the compartment. "Well, well, look who it is," Draco Malfoy sneered, a malicious glint in his eyes. "The mudblood and her little sidekick."

Harry clenched his fists, his anger rising at Malfoy's offensive words. He exchanged a quick glance with Ron, who looked equally determined.

"Draco," future Hermione spoke calmly, her voice laced with a hint of steel. "We have better things to do than engage in your juvenile insults. Please leave."

Draco's smirk faltered as he registered the confidence in her voice. With a resentful glare, he huffed and stomped away, leaving the compartment in tense silence.

Future Hermione turned to Harry and Ron, her expression softening. "Thank you both for being here with me," she said sincerely. "It means a lot to have your support."

Harry and Ron nodded in unison, offering her reassuring smiles. They knew that, together, they could face any challenges that lay ahead.
