I lied

The guys had a blast that day. They spent a couple of hours swimming and playing beach volleyball and of course eating. Just normal guy things. Jungkook keeps getting flustered from the attention that Mingyu showered him with. Who wouldn't though? Mingyu is such a hunk. Tall, muscled and handsome. Even Tae knew his lanky physique was no match to his cousin's so he pretty much stayed in his safe space, always finding a little corner somewhere.

JK is destined to be a star. He is well -liked by everyone. It seems he can never do wrong in anyone's eyes. This isn't how he felt inside though. He felt like he was lacking in something inexplicable. While others see him as this talented, adorable guy, he felt the opposite inside. JK has a lot of insecurities that he tries to cover up with his smile. And while he's friendly to everyone, JK only feels at ease with Taehyung. Tae is his constant. Tae, who is staring at him right now.

"JK, let's take a walk, shall we?" Mingyu beamed at JK who nodded his approval. So off they went.

Woonwoo, as always, witnessed the pain in Tae's eyes as he watched JK and Mingyu walk away from the group to who knows where. Part of him is happy that he gets to spend alone time with Tae, but part of him is hurting for Tae too. It's a lose-lose situation but he is determined to make the most out of this trip.

Woonwoo, Tae, DK, Hobi, Yoongi and Seung gathered around a campfire that night. "Guys, there's a song that I'd love for you to hear". Woonwoo excitedly takes out his guitar and starts playing "Bittersweet".

Yoongi, usually the man of a few words, smiled after the first few verses and said "wow, that's promising. let's hear some more".
Hobi approved of the beat by rhythmically dancing to it.

Just then, Tae started to harmonize with Wonwoo. "but anything, nothing is like the heart of a person. eyes meeting but hearts apart. so sweet and so bitter...."

The band was dumbfounded. They all felt goosebumps. They've never, ever heard Tae sing and this was just the song and performance they were hoping for their entry to the band fest. They were ecstatic and convinced  Tae to be their guest singer for the contest. Everyone was on a high and kept singing Bittersweet.

JK and Mingyu noticed how happy the band seemed when they went back. Both were curious what happened.

It was Tae who approached them first and steered JK away from Mingyu.

"JK, I have something to tell you!"
"Wow, you seem really excited. what is it? but wait, I have something to tell you too! Okay, you go first".

"I will be a guest singer for the band". Tae flashed his boxy smile. "now, your turn".

"I agreed to date Mingyu!"

Tae and JK stared at each other and silently mouthed "WHAT????"
