48th

   “Ready ka na ba?” tanung niya

I smiled

Hinawakan niya kamay ko..

   “Let’s go now..” ngumiti siya

Tumango ako

Tapos pumasok kami sa car..

   “Jeric..” sabi ko

Tumingin siya sakin tapos ngumiti

   “Kinakabahan ka no?” sabi niya

Ngumiti ako

He patted my head..

   “Just trust him”

Nag-labas siya ng handkerchief…

   “I need to cover your eyes..”

Then he covered my eyes..

After a while…

I felt that the car stopped…

I felt my heart beating faster..

   “Watch your head” sabi niya

Hinawakan niya kamay ko..

And we slowly walked..

I didn’t know where we’re going..

I felt cold..

   “Naka-pasok na tayo.. sandali lang” narinig kong sinabi ni Jeric.

Tapos naramdaman kong uminit..

I smelled roses..

   “Tatanggalin ko lang yung blind fold ahh” sabi ni Jeric

   “Don’t open your eyes yet”

Tumango ako..

   “I’ll give you a sign when to”

Naramdaman ko siyang lumayo

   “Jeric..”

   “Now”

I opened my eyes…

I saw all of them..

Smiling at me..

I  smiled back too..

Then they reached out for a banner..

It says ‘Happy V-day’

Then my girlfriends carried out placards

   ‘Happy B-day’

I giggled..

And looked for the person who planned all of this..

But I failed.. he was not here..

   “Happy Valentines day!”

He kissed me suddenly

   “Happy birthday!”

Then he hugged me..

Natawa lang ako

   “Salamat”

Then I kissed him..

May inabot uli siya saking box na maliit..

Binuksan ko

   “Bracelet naman??” tanung ko

Tapos tumingin sakanya, ngumiti siya
