Why haven't I run away again? I wondered as I dragged my ass out of bed at... I glanced at the bleary numbers on the alarm clock...5 am.

"Because there's still too much attention on you to run and not have them hot on your heels while trying to cover tracks before they can see it." Lula chimed in her two cents with a yawn, "At least that's the story you tell yourself." She flashed an image of Barret through my mind, and I groaned as I rolled away from the bright light of the clock. "But that's only half the truth." Now she thought she was funny, another image of just his lower half flashing through my mind. "You got to see your Mate's cock, now when do I get to see-"

"Nope! That's it! It's 5 am. I am not discussing wolf dick with you right now."

"I can't help it! After being next to him when he came, all I've been able to do is wonder what his Knot will feel like inside me." She practicaly purred. Clearly my wolf was horny AF. While I just wanted to die inside the more she kept falling for a Mate that we did not have. Throwing all facts aside and convinced he was this gentle soul she had imagined in our mind.

"That's it. You're cut off."

"But-" Like hitting mute on a TV, she went silent. I hated to cut her out, but this...this I just couldn't deal with right now.

After 10 more minutes of tossing and grumbling, I finally dragged myself out of the comfort of my bed. It was much softer and more comfortable than the cots we had acquired back home, so it truly was not easy to leave it before I was ready to. Then, with complete and utter disdain, I put on that damn outfit Barret had left me with yesterday morning. Not that there was anything wrong with dresses, they just weren't for me anymore. Ever since Nico and I left our home, our every day has been about survival, training and rescue missions. Dresses and skirts didn't really fit into that attire, and so I hadn't owned either since I was a child. Shorts, yoga pants, sweats, tanks and tees is about what my collection consisted of. That and my adapted rescue wear for easy shifting.

I walked the hallways barefoot, but in 'uniform', having lost my shoes when I shifted. My hair was just brushed back and thrown into a high ponytail, same as I wore it most days. After yesterday mornings sex and debacle, Rosalita and Olivia had shown me where the kitchen area was so I wouldn't be too lost today.

"What do we have here?" I mumbled to myself, opening the fridge. This thing was a huge, double wide commercial grade looking piece of equipment. I gasped at the amount and variety of food they had stored in here. I hadn't seen anything like this in so long. Sure, we'd managed to start our own hidden garden behind some of the containers where the soil was actually decent so we could enjoy some fresh vegetable, but things like steak, chicken, eggs and cheese, we didn't have often. Our own grown vegetables and dollar store hamburger helpers minus the burger is what we usually looked forward to. Again- the underground safe have life isn't the wealthiest life.

I had told myself I wouldn't give a damn about what I had fixed him to eat. Cereal could do. But I just couldn't help myself, cooking myself a piece of bacon for every three I cooked for him. Call it a moment of guilty pleasure, but I was in heaven. Even for just two pieces, it was all I needed to brighten my morning. Once it was accompanied with some eggs and toast, I called it complete. I was tempted to be a glutton and keep eating myself, not caring if I was late for his breakfast; but I was full and decided to try not and start a fight this early in the morning.

A morning that quickly soured again when I made my way down the hallway of the Alpha's quarters. Just like his office, his bedroom was located on the west side of the packhouse. The MoonTrace Packhouse itself was huge like a mansion. Even with its size, though, its architect designed the kitchen at the heart of the building, making it a quick walk from any branch of it.
