I had to run from the room before Lula howled for her Mate. "Koba will stop this! I know he'll stop it! He wants us, not her! I can feel it!"

"Correction-your Mate wants you; but the one in charge, he doesn't want shit to do with me...and I'm fine with that."

"No, you're not! Don't forget, we are one. I can feel you already wondering if what he said was true...if he's really a good guy after all that made one bad decision." Lula tried to bring me to her side.

"It wasn't just 'one bad decision'. It was a TERRIBLE decision, and the only reason he didn't go through with it was because I stopped it. If Vanessa had told him to rape that woman, would he have done as she said? Cause apparently he can't tell her 'no'"

I became so consumed in running from what was behind me and my internal argument that I hadn't realized I was already back at our room. "It's still so early. Should we go back and help the other kitchen staff prepare for the day?" I wondered, hand hesitating on the knob.

"Or we can go back to bad and pretend we can forget seeing him kiss her like that...seeing him look at her like that..."

"Lula, you sound like you want to drown your sorrows in alcohol, not sleep."

"Can we do that? I hear tequila can do wonders for your memory."

"No -" I told her, "-and who have you been talking to about tequila." I muttered aloud.

"Do you talk to yourself often-" I was barely a foot in the door when a voice inside my room caught my attention. I whirled around to find the owner of the foreign voice relaxing in a chair - Noah.

"Do you break into women's bedrooms often?" I countered. What the hell is he doing in here?

"Please," he quickly stood up, hands up in surrender, "I don't mean any harm to you by being here."

I crossed my arms, giving him a once over assessment. Noah was taller and leaner than his Alpha, but looks can deceive. As Beta, I'm sure he trained as hard as he could to be as strong as he could be to protect his pack. He had dark brown hair, shaved on the sides, but a little shaggy on top. His soft brown eyes and kind smile are what really sold his honesty. And that one dimple when he did smile-if I didn't already have a Mate I might find it cute as hell. Why am I thinking that?! I don't have a Mate! "Then, what do you mean by being here?" I asked, needing to distract myself from my thoughts.

"I was hoping you'd let me give you a tour of our pack grounds. Show you what MoonTrace really is." I raised my brow at that. "We started off on the wrong foot, and I wanted to correct that. We really aren't what you think we are."

I narrowed my eyes on him. "Did you really just call buying a woman, then making me a servant 'starting off in the wrong foot'? We started off on completely different fucking planets, buddy."

Noah's lips pursed as he looked down at the floor in shame. He didn't agree with that decision his Alpha had made, but he didn't stop him either. For fuck's sake, he had to help load the she-wolf in the damn van. He felt just as guilty, if not more, for what had happened. That guilt and war raging inside him right now was clear on his face without saying it. He hated himself right now.

"- of all the people to stop this and become our retribution, it's your Destined Mate!" I remembered what he said in the cell two nights ago. He thinks I'm their retribution, and now here he is with an olive branch. Now I felt guilt for letting myself get angry at the one man here who probably didn't deserve it. "Look, I'm sorry." I sighed, awkwardly rubbing the back of my head. I wasn't good at apologizing to the enemy. "I would appreciate the tour if the offer still stands."
