Aurora felt well enough to go back to class. What she did not expect was to find a new teacher. As always, Olivia had dragged her out of the house, and it was also a surprise to her to see that the art teacher wasn't there.
"Good morning" that man began to introduce himself. "Your teacher will be on sick leave for a while, so from today I will teach you Art History classes. My name is Nathan."
Aurora, Olivia and Ethan exchanged glances. Professor Nathan was a young man, he had very dark eyes and a peculiarity: hair the colour of blood. Ethan looked at him intently and felt a chill when the professor looked back at him. It was an intimidating, aggressive look.
After classes, Ethan locked himself in his apartment and grabbed a phone that he kept hidden and that he never used to take out of the house. On the third trick, someone hung up.
"Do you have information?" Cassius' voice made you tremble, if you didn't know him.
"At the moment, she lives next to me, so I keep a close eye on her. I am trying to find out who she is expecting a letter from. I'm starting to think it must be some boyfriend who lives far away, nothing important. But..."
"What's going on?"
"Cassius, today a new teacher has arrived."
"And what?"
"His name is Nathan. And by the red hair and the look he directed at me, I'd swear he's a demon. It gave me chills."
"What are you saying?! Are demons already starting to invade Earth? Shit, they're being fast."
"Yeah, but... What the hell is he doing at a university? It would be faster and more effective if he pretended to be a monk, for example. Attack God's holy place directly. Wouldn't it hurt us more?"
"I already warned you. Protect Aurora."
"I don't understand why this girl is so important. She looks like a normal, ordinary girl. Why does the Demon want her?"
"Because she has a noble and beautiful soul, and the Demon loves to absorb that energy. The more positive energy he absorbs, the less is left for the angels. There are more people with such pure characteristics, and you have been assigned to be her protector. There is no further explanation."
Ethan looked at the floor in concentration as he sat on the bed, thinking about the situation.
"Besides, the other day I noticed how stunned you were looking at her in the library," Cassius broke the silence.
"What? You weren't there."
"Ethan, remember we're connected. I feel your most intense feelings, and that moment was emotionally intense. It amazed you."
"You should have seen her."
"Didn't she leave you speechless? It is for this reason that the Devil wants her."
"Well, I won't allow it. He will not get her or the angels."
"This is the attitude. I trust you. Keep working. And, listen to me, don't fall in love."
"Fall in love?"
"Don't fall in love with Aurora. I know it's tempting to be around someone as pure as her, but you know the rules. An angel cannot fall in love with a human. I don't want you to become a fallen angel and be forgotten forever."
"I don't think I'm going to fall in-"
But he had already hung up. No way would he fall in love with that girl. He only found it funny to make fun of her because it was fun to see someone so shy get angry. He didn't like Aurora at all, romantically speaking, no matter how much of an angelic aura she might have. Also, if she put her in a bad mood, maybe the demon would get distracted and leave her alone.
The days went on and professor Nathan was acting normal. Ethan began to think that maybe he had jumped to conclusions, but his angelic instincts didn't fail him. Just in case, he remained alert.
