Cassius didn't have time to reply as an electric blue light emanated from Ethan's body and a second later, a blue beam pierced Nathan's heart. It felt like a sharp knife piercing his chest. Cassius screamed trying to bring Ethan back to his senses, but the angel had no control over his actions. He acted on instinct. He stood up, letting Aurora fall to the ground. The handcuffs broke with the force coming out of his body. He looked at the girl lying on the ground and then at the demon who was sitting clutching his chest, breathing heavily.

"I warned you. I told you the first thing I'd do when the handcuffs came off me would be to kill you. You will die."

His voice was hoarse, deep, it seemed to come from the darkness. Cassius barely recognized him. Not even an archangel of his level could stop him. If he got in the middle, he would be sure of death. In that state, Ethan didn't know friend from foe.

The angel passed over Aurora and stood in front of her. Instinct told him that all he had to do was protect her to the death. Nathan tried to get up, but Ethan hit him with the blue beam again with a face of complete indifference. The demon began to draw blood from his mouth and chest. He was falling apart inside.

"Die, demon."

Ethan fired one last blue beam, this time at the head. It pierced his skull. Nathan lay on the ground, covered in blood. Cassius tried to approach Ethan, hesitating, but the angel growled.

"Calm down, dude. It's me, Cassius. I'm on your side. Ethan, you have to try to come back. Aurora needs you."

The boy was unresponsive. He prepared a direct attack on the archangel when suddenly a sweet voice interrupted the action. Aurora was coming back to herself.

"Ethan... Stop... Cassius... he's good..."

She raised a hand to stop him and Ethan caught it. The blue of his eyes softened, returning to their usual hue. The expression on his face softened. Aurora's touch had calmed him.

"The wings..." she said.

"I know. This son of a bitch..."

"Ethan. This cannot happen again. You have lost control of yourself," said the archangel.

"I know perfectly well what I was doing. I was protecting the girl I love."

Aurora looked at him, her face red.

"With your stupidity you are now a fallen angel. What will you do, living in limbo forever?"

"Do you think I care, as long as Aurora is still alive?"

"You are stupid! Now we can't be together!" Aurora started to cry.

"Aurora, this is partly your fault, too," continued Cassius. "You knew your love was forbidden and you risked it. Now you will have to pay the consequences. We have to get out of here before the demons find out what just happened. You can be sure they will seek revenge on the angels."

Ethan helped Aurora to her feet and holding her shoulders, he helped her walk. Cassius acted as their guide to get out of that dark labyrinth full of corridors that no one wanted to know where they led. After ten minutes, they saw a very bright light at the end of a corridor.

"It's around here. This will take you where you need to go," said the archangel. He looked at them with a sad face as they passed through the light door. He knew very well that it was time for separation, although they would not know until later.
