Chapter 9

Justin-

Evelyn drove me to the hospital. To say the car ride was awkward would be the biggest understatement ever.

I don't understand why my mom had Evelyn take me. Since I am eighteen, I can go without my mom.

I guess she doesn't know that Evelyn and I made out, or that I hated her...

With a passion...

After about 5 silent, awkward minutes, Evelyn finally spoke.

"How are you and Amelia?" She asked

"Why would you ask that?" I replied

"Why not? I feel like I might have screwed things up."

"MIGHT?? Of course you screwed things up!!!

But we made up, so, whatever. Don't talk to me about her..."

"Why not? I'm not allowed to know about your relationships?"

"No, shut up" I attempted to end this conversation.

"Harsh..." She whispered.

Soon after that we arrived at the hospital and checked in. I was sitting on my bed with Evelyn by my side.

"I hope it's good news, whatever it is." She said.

"Yeah, they are just testing to see if I am clear of any cancer cells. They were pretty sure the tumor was completely gone last time I was here." I replied.

"Lets hope nothing turns up" She smiled and grabbed my hand. Not in a 'I want the D' kind of way, but in a sincere way. That was one thing Evelyn was good for. As much as I hate her, shes the only person besides my parents that has been here for me since I was diagnosed 3 years ago.

After all the hassle, the results came back. The young looking doctor came in holding a clipboard. He glanced up at me with a hopeful-or maybe worried smile on his face. I couldn't really read him.

"Will I be okay? Are all the cancer cells gone?" I asked, hopeful.

"I'm afraid we found a minor tumor in your bone tissue, near where it was before. Its nothing serious but we are going to need to perform a biopsy, then we will need to do a surgical procedure to remove it. I am really sorry we have to give you this news, but we are very confident that we can remove it soon enough for you to be safe." I was in shock. It can't be back. It just went away. How will I tell Amelia?

"Can I call my mother?" I asked, on the verge of tears.

"Of course" The doctor replied with a smile.

Amelia-

I wan't to talk to Justin so bad, but hes out at dinner with his parents! ugghhh! I think it'll be fine If I call him right? yeah, I can.

I picked up my phone and scrolled through my contacts list until I reached 'Juju baby

It rang once,

on the third ring, Justin picked up.

"Hey, honey! How's dinner with your mom?" I asked

"Wha- oh yeah i-i-its awesome" He stuttered.

"Are you okay?" I asked.

"Y-Yeah I'm fine. Just thinking."

"Well can we please please hang out tomorrow? I miss you like crazy"

"Umm, Well I know this sounds crazy but I have to go on a short trip back to Canada..."

"CANADA??" Why the fuck was he going to Canada?

"Yeah, its my hometown. My um... 2nd cousins grandpa died.... we were very close."

"Aww im so sorry! Are you okay???!!?!?!?!" MY poor baby.

Justin-

I was lying through my teeth and I felt really bad about it. Shit.

"Yeah, I'm fine. But I really have to go. Talk to you later, okay?"

"Okay, I'll miss you."

"I'll miss you too, Love you, bye!" I replied quickly.

"Love y-" With that I hung up. I might cry uncontrollably if I hear her say the whole word. I was already tearing up just thinking about Amelia not knowing, having to sit at home thinking that I was in Canada.

I miss her already.
