As soon as the familiar sight of their quarters comes into her view, Leila has a different worry she has to deal with. How would she answer her friend's questions about where she spent the night? How could she tell them that after all these years of saying that she'd forever be loyal to Philip, she broke her word on the first night they arrived at this resort? She couldn't even remember the name or the face of the guy she was with, which made it more mortifying.
This is exactly why she avoided being drunk, she completely loses control together with the memory of what she did. Philip's death didn't push her to drink because she's thinking of her daughter during that time. This is why she hates herself for drinking too much the previous day. She got too carried away by the celebration of Christine's birthday and their vacation.
Even if she couldn't remember a thing about what went on last night, the fact that she was naked in bed with another, presumably, naked man speaks volumes. At some point, she and that guy did something. Kiss? She thinks so. Touch? Most probably yes. Sex? She's still trying to figure it out.
She thanks the driver as she steps out of the golf cart. He smiles and nods his head at her in response. She probably looks like hell right now because she didn't get a chance to look at herself in the mirror earlier. It doesn't matter, that's the least of her worries. The driver doesn't know her, and as her friends say, what happens in Paradise stays in Paradise.
Hell, she never thought she'd ever use that line.
Leila was ready to be bombarded with questions but when she opened the door. Surprisingly, the whole place was very quiet. They're probably asleep because it is still early. The sun was just about to rise outside. She gives a sigh of relief, as she walks towards the mini kitchen of their villa where she grabs a huge bottle of water. Her throat was so parched she started drinking from the bottle as she made her way towards her room.
Leila steps into the shower after using the toilet. Okay, so her muscles feel sore, and her privates feel tender. It's not the same compared to when one does it for the first time, although it has been years since she got to be with someone again. She whimpers as she thinks about Philip, she feels that she betrayed him. She's overthinking again, she's not even sure if something happened last night. But that still made her feel awful.
Her friends would know something for sure, she tells herself later on as she dried her hair. She intends to find out but first, she needs to deal with the headache caused by her overindulgence. Good thing she brought medicine for that. When you become a mother, you're in the habit of remembering to bring things for emergencies.
With that thought, Leila decided to check on Stella before the medicine started to have its effect on her. She video calls her mother who answered right away.
"Mommy." It was not her mother who answered but her daughter Stella. She looks so excited to see her. Seeing her daughter made Leila made her feel guiltier she wanted to cry. That and she missed her too.
"Hey sweetie, I'm just checking if everything is ok."
"Don't worry about me Mom. I had a great day today. Grandpa and Grandma picked me up and from school. Ava was with us too. We got to eat ice cream before going home." Her daughter's best friend, Dani's niece, was having a sleepover at her parent's place. Those two have been inseparable ever since Kindergarten. They were also her parent's neighbors which is why they regularly go for sleepovers.
"Don't stay up too late and don't give grandma and grandpa a headache." Leila told her daughter.
"We know that mom. Are you enjoying your vacation? Are you having fun?" Stella asks her. Leila almost choked on her own spit she coughed a little. Mommy has had too much fun, she thought guiltily. Her parents assure her that her daughter is fine and just focus on her vacation before hanging up. She wants to cry.
