Leila

Leila stared at Justin in disbelief over what she heard. She lay next to him dead drunk, with no clothes on and he just let her. She was a stranger to him and he could've taken advantage of the situation and yet he didn't. Not a lot of men would be like him. Learning this made her look at him differently. He is more than just a great-looking guy, he is someone who has great self-control and therefore could be trusted.

"Thank you." She said breaking the silence.

Justin looked up at her in surprise over what she said.

"What for?" He asked.

When his eyes met hers, a warm feeling gushed over her. She is aware that he had this effect on her earlier but there's more to it now.

"For treating me with respect. Not everyone would do that you know."

"Oh, well..." Justin looked uneasy as he tried to find the proper response to what Leila said. "I actually wasn't even thinking much, I was drunk too."

"Exactly my point. You're a good person Justin." She smiled at him.

"Gee, uh, thanks?" He gives an awkward laugh. "Is that what I'm supposed to say with what you said?"

"It is. How about we join the others? I'm not joining their game but I'll watch." Leila said all of a sudden. She started to stand but she struggled in doing so when she stepped on the hem of her dress.

Justin was quick to help her, he reached an arm out so she could grab onto it while his other hand fixed her dress before she stumbled over. She ended up leaning against him for balance.

"That was close." Leila chuckled as she stepped away from him. "My friend didn't think I'd be sitting on the sand when she designed this dress of course.?" She was feeling so conscious of having that close contact with him that she started babbling. She felt it again, that sensation of her pulse racing, and her body turning warm similar to whenever their eyes would meet. That is why she decided to join the others, being alone with him was making her more aware of all these feelings when she told herself she would stay away from it. What's important is that she apologized and he cleared things out over what happened between them.

Justin picked up his shoes together with Leila's as they started to leave. He handed them over to her and she mumbled her thank you. As they reached the tiled floor, Justin bent so he could put his shoes on. He looks up at Leila when she doesn't make a move to wear hers.

"Aren't you going to put them on?" He asked.

"Nah, I'm fine. I'll walk on bare feet." She said.

He scowled at her response.

"The floor is cold and you don't know if there's any sharp thing on the ground. Here, let me help you." He takes her shoes from her hand but she pulls it back holding them by her chest as if it was the most important thing in the world.

"No, it's ok. I'll be fine, you don't have to help me at all." She argued. Deep inside, she knew she's being ridiculous over it. She just didn't want to have that physical contact with him again. It's too overwhelming and it made her confused.

Justin stood up and waited for her to make that simple act of wearing her shoes but she didn't move from her spot.

Two young female resort staff walked past them greeting them as they did. Leila saw them eyeing Justin closely and they were obviously holding back a giggle when he smiled at them in greeting. Well, they obviously are just as affected by him just as she was so there's no shame in that. Except that they don't have a kid and they didn't promise themselves that there'd be no other man after being widowed.
