A part of me had hope that she was still there, alive and fighting the ghoul she had become. However I knew it was a trick, I wanted to just let her kill me but I knew that wasn't the way. The flames from earlier... Were they my doing? As time slowly resumed again, I could get my breathing, heartbeat s my pulse raced with each passing nanosecond. Nothing made sense till a familiar sinister voice rang in the room. Without having to look I knew who the owner of that dreadful voice was

Lilly: Your grandmother has put up quite the fight before we were able to make her what she was

'A distorted and tortured beast!' They turned her into a monster, far from the kind old lady who raised me... I swear I'll kill every single last one of them! Looking at my grandmother as she curls and contorts on the ground, I feel my eyes begin to water

Lilly: Only one of you can survive today. Chose you or her? I hear ghouls tend to devour their prey alive. They enjoy their meal reaction and watch the light leave the victim's eyes. Really gets the blood pumping, you know what I mean

Her fangs extend as she licks them, her eyes glowing. Excitement is evident in her glinting eyes along with expectation for my next move. I dropped to the floor and my hand left a trail of blood on it. The ghoul speaks as if mocking me but also speaking my grandmother's last words, speaking with two voices. One normal and the other a high-pitched childlike voice

Granny ghoul: Save yourself. You can't die- die yet aarrhh-!

Her voice turned into that of horrid gasps of the two voices interning with each other. Tilting her head backwards, dramatically, her eyes rolling to the back of her head as she tries to control her body but the hunger is too great. Soon her consciousness left and it seemed as if she blacked out. I ghoulish sound left her mouth as her head tilts back down. Her eyes stared me dead in the eyes, it seemed as if she would devour me if she could. A shiver almost like a electric shock coursing through my body for a split second, causes my body to jump on the spot from the sudden attack. This offsets the ghoul as she dashes at me

I froze. However, as time went by nothing happened. It felt as though time had stopped or slowed down to the extreme. Cause when I opened my eyes, my grandmother was moving in slow motion. Turning to look at the vampires watching in glee even they seemed to be moving in slow motion. I turn back to the ghoul, then limp towards the vampires. The adrenaline rush slowly numbing the pain in my side again. My body smacks against the bars as I reach out to one of the vampire's waist, pulling a silver dagger. Right after retrieving it, I turn and grab the cross that Lilly was especially wearing today for some reason

I pull away as I do so, I can see the glee in Lilly's eyes slowly morph into dread but before I can see it turn to anger. I've already turned my back on her. I go back to the ghoul where I impaled the dagger into its heart before slicing its head cleanly off its shoulders. The blood from its neck squirts into my face, and I drop the dagger. Looking down at my feet was the head of the ghoul... My grandmother- my grandmother's head!? Realization dawns on me before I had zoned out as my instincts for survival kicked in and I saw her as a ghoul... Not my grandmother

I stagger backwards a few steps as I grab my face trying to cover it from the scene before me. However, the blood on my hands rubs onto my face. Pulling them away from my face I see blood, my grandmother's blood. Looking back at her head. I slump forward while my face blanks for a second as I fall to my knees. I pick up her head. Eyes and mouth wide open with blood dripping out of both eyes and mouth. I immediately start apologizing and begging for her forgiveness. Asking her to wake up as streams of sorrowful tears flow down my eyes. After a while, I wipe my eyes still in denial. I look around and find her headless body. Crawling towards it to attach her head to her body, only for nothing to happen when the head meets the body. A voice echoes in my head
