Third POV___________________
Five Weeks LaterAt sunset, the trio comes across a lake and decides to take a break. Carlos walks over to Pishka whose piggybacking Rose. He helps her put Rose on the ground, though it's not necessary. It's his way of making an excuse to spend time with her every day. They have even created a daily routine. It came about as they took breaks every once in a while, Carlos will teach Rose how to identify danger from a distance and to hide her scent. While Pishka taught her how to fight and toy with the minds of her enemies. Though the two siblings knew that Rose wasn't their real sister. From the time they spent together, they were able to form a bond that had great room for growth in bonding. Rose was also able to smile now and then, from Pishka's poor attempts at being funny while Carlos reenacted the affectionate behaviour, his parents would express towards him and his siblings before he became a thereon. Carlos is seated and observes Pishka sitting with a scrunched-up face as Rose takes the initiative to play with her hair with a curious face
Soon curiousity birthed experimentation which gave way to creativity and then blessed them with inspiration. All to the older girl's horror, although she did nothing but sit still. Both Carlos and Pishka were trying to shower her with affection but struggled greatly. However, their broken little child understood and accepted their weird expression of love toward her. They were broken too and didn't fit into the standard of the phrase 'TLC'. But they fit each other and were quite happy with one another. Life seemed normal for a while, they all felt loved and accepted each others' scars. Sitting by a fire, Carlos chuckles as he comments
Carlos: Why so stiff, weren't you the one who offered yourself and told her that this is what kids did with their 'big sisters'? Huh, big sister?
Pishka glares at her brother, while Rosé cracks a smile as she steps back to see her creation
Rosé: I'm done... How does it look?
She looks down nervously while Carlos stares at Pishka looking taken aback. Then burst out laughing, Pishka looked at him with death glares while he held his stomach as he laughed. Rosé looks at them with a worried expression as she asks
Rosé: Is it not pretty?
The two older duos quickly shale their heads as they confirm that she did a great job. After five minutes of convincing her, she smiles genuinely with pure joy. That smile somehow warmed their dark, cold hearts. Pishka turns and brushes the little girl's head as she tries to smile affectionately while speaking in a gentle manner
Pishka: You truly are amazing Roé
Just seconds after saying those words, a deep growling sound echoes in the forest, sounding too near for comfort. To make matters worse, they couldn't see it, not even with their heightened vision. The tree branches blew in the dark quiet forest, the gust of wind causing a chill to run down their spines as it passed by. The family shivered in unison before killing the flames and climbing into their tree. They squat while hiding on a branch in the tree
Pishka: We need to leave
Carlos raises his arm in front of her, blocking her from moving any further
Carlos: Stop it's too dangerous to go down there, also look
Just then another growl is heard but this time it sounds closer than before... Much too close for comfort, one would say they were just a few feet away from the creature. Pishka, tightens her hold on Rosé, as she and Carlos spot a bare dog's face emerging from the shadows of the trees. As if it came out of the shadows or thin air then their third dimension. It prowls slowly towards the tree the trio is hiding in, not bothering to look up seemingly confident that its prey couldn't escape from its reach. Hence it gave false hope to its prey by giving it an opening while in reality, it's toying with its prey
