-----------► Toji isn't very happy with your recent behaviour.
Toji wasn't expecting to be waking up to an angry Shiu at the door. But there he was. "I've always thought that nobody would ever top you in your insatiable hunger for money." Shiu said, glaring at Toji, which was a rare sight for someone who was usually nonchalant. "But I thought wrong." Toji stood stupidly at the doorway, still fresh out of bed, wearing a plain white shirt and some oversized sweatpants. He cocked a brow, eyes squinting from the bright sun he's exposed to. "Morning to y'a too. So what's up, you got a stick up y'a ass?" Toji responded in his gruff voice. Shiu ignored him as he shoved you into view. "But today, I found your match." He spat as he dragged you through the door, shoving past Toji. You ignored the confused look Toji sent your way.
Toji followed the two of you into the kitchen, now mostly awake. A cigarette was held between Shiu's fingers while he dug his pocket for a lighter. Toji eyed you suspiciously. He noted your slightly ruined makeup, also dressed in a different outfit than you had left in, and your hair slightly ruffled and tangled. And most strangely, you reeked of perfume - which was very out of character as you had always made a point on how you hated how people drowned themselves in perfumes. You tried to be indifferent to his questioning looks and even though you had the answers to his questions, you were not going to be the one breaking the news to him. You felt Toji's eyes wander down your form, searching for more clues to what had happened. Toji had many questions. But one question at a time. "How did it go?" Toji asked. Shiu aggressively puffed out a mouthful of smoke. "Why don't you ask your little apprentice here." For a usually composed man, he sounded very stressed. Toji's eyes landed back on you, having a vague idea of what you might have done. Nothing good judging by Shiu's reaction. "What did she do? Did the hit not go well?" Toji asked, leaning on his marble kitchen counter. "You tell me." Shiu replied. "Woah." Toji said defensively. "I'm not taking the blame for anything. I trained her well alright? She can finish the target with one shot."
"Well, the target finished and took a shot alright." Shiu said with evident disgust.
Toji furrowed his brow. "What?"
Shiu was riled up all over again. "Want me to spell it out for you?" He fumed, hands in the air. "She fucked the target." The silence was deafening. "That's fucking right. She fucking slept with him." Shiu exclaimed. Your head was hung low, imitating the movement as if you were ashamed.
Now, you didn't exactly think you were in the wrong, you had a good reason. However, you kept a close watch on Toji, watching out for his expression. After spending a year with him, you can almost always guess what he's feeling from his expressions alone, but your talent for reading him only goes as far as reading simple emotions, for example how pissed he is. A little 'tsk' meant he's a little annoyed but it's no big deal. A breathy sigh meant he's pretty pissed and you may have a little something to worry about. A scowl however, meant you were in big trouble, that's when you're treading into dangerous waters. But all of those were just him being annoyed, the one you feared the most was when he doesn't react at all. You always watched out for those. You watched him intently, for any body language, any sign that maybe you should just run and never turn back. You looked for any frown, any scowl, or caught any 'tsk.'
But this time, Toji was quiet. Abnormally quiet. He was expressionless.
Shit.
You had feared this outcome. At this point, you might as dig up your grave.
"...right." Toji finally spoke. His voice sounded like death. Shiu finished with the last puff and squished the end of the cigarette on the counter. "Your little apprentice here blew one of the best deals I've had in months." Shiu said. "And I'm taking all that loss from you. Toji. And remember, this is the last time I'm giving any job to her." With that, he turned to go. "Deal with her."
