REMINISCING A BITTERSWEET LIFE

despite the gentle grace of love, anguish takes grip.
in memories, echoes of yesterday emerge.
once pure, a lover’s bond is now clouded by shadows,
the suffering from old whispers, a love designed to endure.

fond memories that are now bittersweet
as the threads of sadness creep across recollections.
promises shattered, now worn and fractured trust
the past’s suffering is like a thorn in the beginning of love.

yet, there is a lesson in the suffering.
the agony of the past, the opportunity to choose.
in order to mend, forgive, or both,
a journey of a lover, leading to final calm.
