After Kana and Ko talked, Kana told everyone that he and Ko would be leaving and could be gone for a while. Once everyone heard the news, they all became sad that their master would be gone. Amu decided to throw a party to lift everyone's beaten spirits.

The party was held the night before departure at the open field near the giant front gates of the fortress. The acacia trees were wrapped in blinking lights. There was a mini stage where a live band was playing, whose members were all night creatures: demons, ghosts, and ghouls, something Ko had never imagined seeing. A few feet away from the stage was the buffet station. There was so much food Ko felt a little sick.

A few hours ago, during the party preparations, Amu was so excited that she made celebratory clothes for everyone—a unitard with lots of glitter and sequins. She was very persistent that Ko wore his celebratory outfit too, for she worked so hard to make them. Kana joined Amu in fiercely persuading Ko to give in and wear the damn thing! Ko refused and threatened that he would not join the party if they kept insisting. Thus, they sadly gave up.

During the party, Ko thought everyone looked ridiculous wearing the unitard. He was standing next to Kana, who was swaying to the music. Ko was in a bad mood. It annoyed him that they were wasting time throwing this party, but he found it more annoying that despite Kana wearing a unitard, he still found him alluring.

"Why are we throwing a party? This is such a waste of time."

"Amu and the rest are sad that I'm leaving. This is just their way to comfort themselves." Kana replied.

Ko rolled his eyes.

"No need to be so cold all the time. If you let your guard down just a little bit and have some fun, it will not mean you like me. I've received the message that you don't, full stop."

Ko stared at Kana, who was smiling but also looked in pain. Ko agreed to loosen up a bit, considering it had been ages since he last attended a party. He headed over to the food and drink section and grabbed a beer. He peeked over his shoulder and saw Kana talking to a crowd of night creatures.

Ever since he discovered that Kana had sealed off 99% of his powers, he could not get the image off his mind: his name splashed on the front news page, the disbelief on the stupid faces of his stupid parents, the Royal Family adopting him. Killing Kana would be such an achievement that his entire family would be beneath him.

Eat that sucker! Try looking down on me now, bitches.

The temptation to shove this accomplishment to his parents' faces was incredibly itchy, but killing Kana would not make the symptoms disappear. It will make it worse. Ko read if one soulmate died earlier, the one left behind would die shortly after, just a few days apart due to extreme grief. Although Ko couldn't imagine feeling such grief for 7219, he didn't want to test the power of Aurora.

Most soulmates die at the same time due to the powerful connection. Ko does not want to die but can't shake off the alluring gifts he shall receive in killing Kana.

"Hey, what are you thinking?"

Ko's racing thoughts stopped. A very drunk Amu appeared before him.

"None of your business." Ko barked.

Amu chuckled. "You know, I'm starting to like you. I think we're friends now."

"Fuck no." Ko was shocked to hear a ghoul telling him that they were friends.

"Since we're friends, I'll tell you a secret, shhh. Don't tell anyone." She was so wasted.

"Master liked you before you met, even before the red string appeared."
