"Hey, Jenny, wake up." I felt hands nudging my shoulder.

I blinked awake, and found myself looking into the bright blue eyes of an unfamiliar girl. I blinked and cleared my throat, sitting up on my elbows.

"Who?" I asked, looking around. I was lying on a couch in an unfamiliar-

Oh wait, I'm at Craig's house.

I turned to look at the girl next to me. The living room was dark, so I hadn't noticed the purple skin surrounding their eyes.

I yawned. "Hey Craig," I said. His short, black hair fell perfectly between his head bows to form a messy tangle on his forehead.

Actually pretty cute, I thought, then reprimanded myself, remembering that Craig was a guy in a girl's body.

"Good morning," Craig said, grinning. I'd never noticed how bright his eyes were. "What would you like for breakfast?" He cut off my response. "Trick question! You get cereal."

I gave him a smug look. "Good thing that was what I was about to say." I cleared my throat and slid out from under the blankets, before turning bright red and realizing I didn't have a top on. Craig looked away respectfully, walking towards his kitchen.

"Hope you like Snozzle Pops!" He said.

I quickly grabbed some clothes and slipped into the bathroom to get changed. I could hear Craig pouring cereal in the other room.

I did a quick breath test ( XP ) before returning to the living room. I folded the blanket I had been sleeping under, slipped my pajama bottoms into my bag, and entered the kitchen.

The light stunned me for a moment. I'd realized that, apart from changing in the bathroom, I hadn't turned on any of the lights.

"Where-?" I asked. Craig pointed to a cereal box next to a bowl on the counter.

"Spoons are in the drawer next to the fridge, milk is... Well, in the fridge." Craig mixed around his cereal in his bowl.

I didn't have any trouble finding the stuff, and before I knew it, the slightly awkward breakfast was over.

"The bus comes in twenty minutes," Craig said. I nodded, grabbing my toothbrush from my bag and walking back into the bathroom, rinsed my toothbrush, and then realized that I hadn't brought any toothpaste.

"Craig?" I called, poking my head out of the bathroom. No response.

I left the bathroom. I could feel my ears tilting slightly to encompass new sounds.

There's a ratatata in his floor too.

Well actually, mine is in my ceiling, but whatever.

I walked back into the living room. The kitchen light was still on, but Craig was nowhere to be seen.

Then I heard it: A quiet curse word, coming from upstairs.

Maybe he's in his room?

I crept up the stairs. I don't know why. His mom was already at work, so nobody was sleeping.

I heard angry noises as I reached the second floor. The layout was pretty basic. Only two rooms, his and his mom's.

I heard a voice that was definitely Craig's.

"Come on, just work already! Stupid hair."

I knocked on his door.

"Come in," He sighed. I opened the door.

"Hey Craig, do you have any toothpaste I co..." I trailed off, noticing the scene.

Craig was in his bathroom, with hairbands wrapped up and down his arms, trying to tie his hair into the tiny man-bun it was always in. He glanced at me.

"Go ahead and laugh," He said.

"I didn't say anything," I said.

"Oh come on, I know this is pathetic," Craig said, "Get it out now."

I snickered, then coughed to try and pretend like I hadn't.

"Do you uh, do you want help?" I asked

Craig sighed. "I'm fine," He said. He tugged a hairband, sending three hair clips zipping across his bathroom. His bun came undone. He scowled at the mirror. "Fine, you can help. Just don't tell my mom."

"Sit," I commanded, pointing to the spot in front of his bed. He exited the bathroom and sat awkwardly, blushing. I grabbed a few hairbands and a comb, before sitting on his bed.

He blushed harder as I messed with his hair.

"Hold still," I said, twisting his hair around. "Geez, this is like bending paper clips."

"I know," Craig said.

I don't think I've ever made a bun with this little amount of hair. It barely came down over his forehead.

I pulled a few black strands up to a point roughly in the center of his head. The tension evaporated from his body.

"That's the spot," He said, "That's where I keep trying to get the bun to go, but it never does."

I wondered why his bun always seemed to navigate around his head from day-to-day.

I tugged his hair upwards. It was finally acting like normal hair. I swear that stuff is magical. It definitely could move on its own.

I tied the strands into a loose bun.

"There," I said. Craig reached up and touched his hair. He stood and raced to the bathroom, startling me. I shook my head confusedly, before following him.

Craig was leaning on the sink, with his face inches away from the mirror. He was biting his lip and grinning like crazy.

"Wow," he said, "I look great!"

"Uh, yeah?" I said. His voice was a little higher than normal.

"This is crazy!" He said, "I love this!"

"T-the hair, or?" I literally have never seen Craig this happy. It was kind of scary.

"The hair, the feeling, all of it!" Craig said, "It's like all my... all my like, dark feelings are gone. I fe..." he trailed off.

"You feel..?" I echoed.

"Do I look like a girl?" He asked. His voice lowered to its usual pitch.

I stood next to him and squinted at the mirror.

"I mean, maybe a little," I said, half-shrugging, "not that much th- wait! Don't-"

But I was too late. Craig had pulled out a hairband. His hair came out, sending two other hair bands flying. His black hair fell across his head.

I blinked. "Why did you-?"

"The bus is almost here," he interrupted. I could hear the tiniest tremble in his voice.

"Craig-"

He brushed by me to get out of the bathroom. I watched him stalk out of his room.

I heard thumping of footsteps down the stairs,  accompanied by sniffling.

Is he... crying?

What is going on?

I was about to leave when I glanced at his bathroom counter.

I quickly snatched three hair bands, slipped them into my pants pocket, and followed Craig.
