Craig's Mad woooo

I wrapped my wings around myself, before stepping outside. The cold December air hit me like a wall.

I blinked, looking out across Craig's yard. Craig was waiting at the end of his driveway. I heard his sigh as it was carried away by the wind.

There was a puff of exhaust. I tilted my head towards the sound, and saw our bus stopping at the end of the street.

Craig hadn't noticed the bus yet.

I walked up to him.

"Hey," I said, "what's wrong."

"Don't talk to me," he said aggressively.

I gulped.

Guess we're not on speaking terms anymore.

What did I do?

The bus rolled up to Craig's house. The door squeaked open. I cringed, rubbing my temples.

Add that to the sensitive hearing list.

I got on after Craig. He walked right to the back.

"Hi!" Dani said. He didn't even look at her before taking the back seat. She gave him a confused look.

"Jenny?" Dani asked when she saw me. "Aren't you supposed to be-?" She glanced between me and Craig. Her brow furrowed.

"My parents threw me out," I said. Her eyes widened. "Don't worry, they'll get over it. Also, Craig's mad at me for some reason. I don't know why. I'm staying with his family for the time being."

Dani's blinked. I shrugged.

"It's temporary," I said, sliding into the seat next to her. I really hope it's temporary. They didn't even really throw me out, I more 'left'. I think.

"That still really sucks," Dani said, "They can't just ditch you like that!"

"Well, they can and did," I said, "also, I left all my school stuff at my house. Can a borrow a pencil?"

"You got thrown out yesterday and you're still coming to school?" Dani asked.

"Uh, duh," I said, gesturing around me. "I missed enough school when I Pokemorphed. I can't really afford to miss too much more. My math teacher doesn't even recognize me. I need to keep up with it all."

"I know, but geez," Dani said, "How are you still standing?"

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"You survived a deadly virus, had your entire body shifted around, got thrown out of your house, and you're still coming to school," Dani blinked. "You're a super human Jenny."

I laughed. "Yeah right. I've treated Pokemorphs badly since the day I was born, my parents can barely even look at me anymore, and the second I actually started making headway with Craig I botched it somehow. I am not a super human."

"But you're still coming to school," Dani persisted.

We sat in silence. I watched the bus pass my house.

"What did you do to Craig?" Dani asked.

"You mean now or..?"

"Just now," Dani said, "I watched you do the other stuff."

"Yeah, true," I sighed. "I don't really know what happened. He asked me to help him do his hair-"

"He asked you?!" Dani exclaimed.

"Well I offered, and he accepted. Anyways, I did his hair- you know that terrible bun it's always in? I did a real bun, and he jumped up and ran into the mirror, and he seemed so happy- I thought I did a good job! It looked normal, and it was right where he wanted it. I don't get it. He went from being totally enthusiastic to depressed. I... I don't know what I did wrong, and I feel really bad about it."

"When you say 'normal bun', you mean like, feminine bun?" Dani asked.

"I mean, I though it was gender-neutral, but I guess he might've thought he looked liked a girl," I blinked, "Actually, he asked if he looked like a girl, and I'm pretty sure I said 'maybe'."

Dani put a hand on her forehead. "Jennyyyy, come on!" She groaned.

"I didn't know he'd get so upset! I was being honest!"

"Well, sometimes lying is the answer." Dani scolded.

"That's a great life lesson," I mumbled.

"You need to apologize," Dani said.

I groaned. "I know. I just feel so stupid now. You're probably right."

"I mean, I wasn't there, so I don't know for sure, but you did something to make him mad at you and me so you better fix it."

I slid into the window as the bus made a sharp turn into the school.

A few moments later, the school bus doors opened. Craig stalked past us and left the bus without saying a word.

I clenched my teeth. He's so mad.

Dani gave me a look.

"I'll apologize during lunch," I said, letting her go into the aisle ahead of me. "It's the only class we have together anyways."

"Do it," Dani said, "No excuses."

"Fine, fine," I conceded. We walked off the bus. A shivered. I guess I'll have to ask Miranda if she can make something better after all. The shawl thing is equal to like, light jacket level insulation, which isn't great in winter.

I walked through the school doors and started off towards my locker. I had just started going up the stairs to the next floor when I felt a tap on my shoulder. I stopped and turned to find a familiar looking woman with cyan hair and a tight police uniform.

"Hello miss," the woman said, "I'm officer Jenny. I'm going to have to take you to the Cinderbrooke Police Station."

My heart stopped.
